COURSE DESCRIPTION Keyboarding is a one-semester course designed to help students develop speed and accuracy by learning the touch operation of alphanumeric/keyboarding characters. Emphasis is placed on the following: mastery of the keyboard with desirable keyboarding techniques; development of speed and accuracy; basic problem-solving applications of centering and arranging reports, letters, and tables; proofreading; formatting; and proper care of the equipment. Keyboarding is foundation for developing entry-level skills for business careers.

GRADING Grades will come from daily work, and tests. We are going paperless in my classes. Students will submit their work using Edmodo.

MAKEUP WORK POLICY You will have one day for each excused absence to turn in assigned work. Unexcused absences will result in zeros. Keyboarding Syllabus Page 2 CLASSROOM RULES AND CONSEQUENCES The classroom rules are posted in my room. This system will allow me to be consistent in enforcing the rules I have established. Also, any rules listed in the student handbook that students received during registration will be enforced. The rules stated in the handbook may have different consequences than what is stated below.

RULES Rule 1: Absolutely NO gum, candy, or soda drinks in the lab! Rule 2: No talking once the tardy bell has sounded. Rule 3: Show respect for students, teachers, equipment, and MHS at all times. Rule 4: Copying and cheating will not be permitted. Result will be automatic zero and detention. Rule 5: The bell does not dismiss my class, I do. Rule 6: All handbook rules and computer contract rules apply!

CONSEQUENCES (For classroom misbehavior not stated in the handbook) 1st Offense: Verbal warning, first and second week of school. 2nd Offense: Discipline Notice/Office Referral. 3rd Offense: Discipline Notice/Office Referral.

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES 1) You are to sit in your assigned seat every day, logged in when the tardy bell rings. Place bags, books, purses, etc. under your work area. 2) Look on the board for objective and daily assignment. 3) Push in chair, logout, and clean work area before leaving class. 4) Work will be submitted by Edmodo. 5) Hand sanitizer is provided in my classroom please use to cut down on germs.

6) When leaving class for ANY reason, you must complete the checkout form. 7) If you are allowed to leave class, you must wear the hall pass vest. 8) Bathroom breaks taken between classes, not during my class unless with a doctor’s note.
