Fudge Brownies

FUDGE BROWNIES (makes 9” x 13” pan) from Better Homes and Gardens New Cookbook, via Diana Palenz

1 1/4 c. butter or margarine Melt in large sauce pan, then remove from heat. 3/4 c. cocoa (dry, baking-type) Dissolve in melted butter. 2 c. granulated sugar Stir into chocolate and butter. 4 eggs Add, two at a time, and beat well after each addition. 2 t. vanilla Stir into batter. 1 1/2 c. flour Stir in and mix well. Pour into greased 9” x 13” pan.

1 c. finely chopped walnuts (opt.) Sprinkle on top, if desired. Bake at 350° (325° for glass pan) for 35 to 40 minutes. Do not overbake. Cool in pan. Cut into squares or bars.
