B. Course Objectives Candidates will be able to: 1. Read and respond to the research on the reading, listening, and viewing interest of children in grades K-8. 2. Create an effective handout of print and non-print items for children in grades K-2, chosen from materials on the annual Notable Children’s lists. 3. Select and annotate a list of children’s books appropriate for grades 3-8, chosen from various annual children’s book awards. 4. Evaluate and compare the children’s collection and services in both a public and a school library. 5. Analyze the similarities and differences amongst children’s book and media vendors/jobbers.
