BASIC DRAWING: CAD Review

Objective: The student will construct a complete one view drawing of an assigned problem using the CAD system.

Assignment: ¨ Construct a complete orthographic drawing on the CAD system complete with the necessary object lines, hidden lines, and center lines.

¨ The drawing will be done on size "B" drawing paper. Set one Layer for the border and title block. Set the remaining drawing parameters, layers, colors, and linetypes as needed. Use the correct linetype assignments for each line type (i.e. CENTER2, HIDDEN2). o Standard drafting practice requires center lines to extend 1/4" past the feature, not the entire object. Include all center lines for complete circles only.

¨ Set one layer for construction. This layer should be completed first. Draw the main center lines to locate key features of the object. Construct the drawing details as needed. Do not erase this layer. Be sure to include this layer on the CAD Drawing Document Sheet. o Construct the given problem. Use the Offset, Mirror, Copy, Move, Chamfer, Fillet, Array, Change, Pan, and Zoom commands to your best advantage. Extend, Trim, and Grips can also be used.

¨ Plot the drawing on size “A” drawing paper.

Special Instructions: o Draw the given view complete with visible object lines, center lines, and hidden lines. Do not include the dimensions. o Plot the drawing with different line weights by assigning a line weight to a layer. Assign a line weight of 0.02 for object lines, a line weight of 0.012 for hidden lines, and a line weight of 0.010 (default) to all other lines.

Evaluation:  You should have one plot and one CAD Drawing Document Sheet for this Assignment.
