Meeting of the Minds notes i. Jason Kilmer 1. Great feedback 2. Marijuana legalization impact on Washington was valuable. a. PowerPoint is on MOM website! /handouts ii. College AIM was very helpful iii. Peter lake 1. Positive feedback from professionals 2. Lack of interaction with audience led to lack of student engagement iv. La Tanisha 1. How to approach Affirmative Consent and policies b. What should we improve upon for next year? i. Intercultural differences 1. Different cultures and how they view prevention 2. Microaggressions ii. So many topics, but having to choose is hard. Big performers should be split up. Possibly condensing how many sessions happen at one time. iii. Possibly break up the student and professional sessions 1. Students feel more comfortable engaging iv. Bleeding edge discussions. 1. As we get further along, we need more help. What does it look like 3-5 years out? v. Having keynotes do more breakouts 1. Keynotes engage, dive into more specific audiences for breakouts vi. Consultations with presenters would be nice 1. By appointment or office hours vii. Specialized round tables 1. Round tables can be capitalized by lower level questions viii. Student presentations 1. Perhaps shorter sessions. a. Less intimidating b. More time for more sessions from students 2. Featuring campaigns, posters, etc. ix. Ideas for future pip meetings 1. Student presentations a. Networking in afternoon 2. Student panels a. Culture conversation x. Guidebook 1. Useful 2. Clear way to make room changes communicated on larger scale a. Before sessions, at keynote xi. V. Planning for next fiscal year VI. General and Financial Updates a. Upcoming Events i. Ethics Training: June 17th, 2016 ii. STEP UP Training: June 6th at UMSL; seating is limited, please register soon iii. Summit on Language regarding Alcohol and Sexual Violence: August 5th in place of PIP meeting 1. Small planning team will be meeting the week of May 16th via conference call. Please let Joan know if you would like to participate. 2. To Do: Start identifying a team of 3-6 people from your campus and community who may want to attend iv. Law Enforcement Training: SFST and Drugs that Impair: June 20th and September 15th v. CPE training: September 2016; Host Campus: UMSL; Spring training planned at Missouri S&T vi. BACCHUS General Assembly will be in Kansas City, Missouri November 17-20th b. Financial Reminders i. May 16: Final requests for PIP forms due 1. All paperwork, receipts, and requests due. Credit card charges should also happen before this date. ii. MCHBS Incentives reimbursement: deadline has passed iii. Travelling and reimbursement to Meeting of the Minds: deadline has passed VII. Partnership for Success a. Reminder to order first aid kits, clipboards, pencil pouches and other items VIII. SMART/CHEERS/Drive Safe. Drive Smart a. Please order items to promote CHEERS and Drive Safe Drive Smart on your campus b. Customizable posters available through Wendy (she does GREAT work!) c. Billboards, commercial, and campus newspaper advertising d. Please like Drive Safe Drive Smart on Facebook! e. Update on new CHEERS items i. Due to grant limitations, now only purchasing supply items for CHEERS establishments. IX. Evaluation Update a. MCHBS data will be presented at the June meeting. b. Reporting of "Prefer Not to Respond" (PNR) on Excel spreadsheets. i. In the past, we have included PNR as one of the legitimate answers in the campus Excel spreadsheet reporting documents. In other words, PNR was one of the responses which added up to 100%. c. This could cause some of the numbers in the Excel spreadsheet to be different than the KPI's campuses want to include in their strategic plans, because we remove PNR when doing this analysis. d. This year, we will report PNR, but included as missing data. This will allow you to see what percentage of students "preferred not to respond", but this number will not be presented in the analysis. e. Class variable in 2015 MCHBS f. The class variable (i.e. freshman, sophomore, junior, senior) was not included in the survey. g. We have created a proxy variable to provide the best guess. This created variable consists of a regression equation based on age, living arrangement, etc. National association of international graduation students i. Working to change the policies international student visa renewal h. Campus and Community Policy Survey and PIP Coalition Survey: was due April 1st X. MACRO Update a. Recovery Support Peer Training 1. Working on creating a certification for recovery peer support for students. Looking to get a group together. 2.
