CRUSHER DECORTICATOR WITH BEATER (CD) UNIT AND PROCESS Capacity: 3.2 tons to 5 tons fibre per 8 hours

Machines Used:

1. Crusher 2. Squeezer 3. Decorticator combined with Beater 4. Screener 5. Baling Press

Process:

1. Crushing Process using Crusher:

Fresh raw green husks are fed to the crusher for punching, crushing and slight elongation. By crushing, the husks get softened. They are then put into overhead water tank for about 2 minutes and fed to the defibring machine. Slightly dried green husks, after crushing, are put into overhead water tank. They are then taken from the tank, thrown into the soaking yard and sprayed with water for 1 to 2 hours depending on the hardness condition of husks. Dry husks, after crushing, are put into overhead water tank. They are then taken from the tank, thrown into the soaking yard and sprayed with water for 4 to 8 days depending on the hardness condition of husks.

2. Squeezing Process using Squeezer:

The crushed, soaked husks are then fed to the squeezer. The purpose is to crush the husks again, squeeze them to remove the water and reduce the load to the decorticator. By squeezing, the husks get more elongated and softened. The squeezed husks are then fed to the decorticator.

3. Fibre Extraction using Decorticator and Beater:

In the decorticator and beater, beating operation is used for fibre extraction. The decorticator cleans the fibre to some extent and the fibre enters into the beater automatically. The beater cleans the fibre again and we get cleaned mixed fibre. Due to the beating process, we get only mixed fibre and cannot get bristle and small fibres separately. The decorticator and beater are combined such that the output from the decorticator automatically goes into the beater. The main advantage of this type of construction is to reduce labour. The load on beater is lighter compared to that on the decorticator.

Crusher Decorticator with Beater (CD) Unit and Process CONTINUED...

This unit is installed with a pneumatically operated bottom cleaning arrangement. The main purpose of this arrangement is to remove the pith sticking to the bottom of the unit thereby reducing the load and power consumption by 50%. Only with this setup, the specified production can be achieved. The pneumatic operation is powered by a 5 HP – 7.5 HP compressor.

4. Screening process using Screener:

Some pith may still stick to the fibre obtained. Screener separates the mixed fibre from pith. Then the cleaned fibre is then taken to the drying yard for sun drying.

5. Baling process using Baling Press:

The dried fibre is taken for baling. The dried fibre is made into bales using the baling press. Weight of the bales may vary between 30 Kg and 150 Kg. Baling press is designed based upon the weight and dimensions of the bale.
