DPS INTERNATIONAL HOLIDAY HOMEWORK 2015 – 16 CLASS V
ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE Read the newspaper every day even if you travel. Collect 10 clippings on any of the following topics:

Sports
Make a collage on the topic of your choice with the newspaper clippings and write a paragraph of 100 words as to why that topic interested you and what from the articles pasted did you learn Complete unit 1 of your workbook.

You may need to keep some records (time and amount spent etc.) during the course of your project
You can make any regular or irregular shapes like cubes, cuboids, cylinders, spirals, prisms etc. using paper folding or origami, paper cutting, nets. Some of the ideas for your reference are given below.
2 After making the model, answer the given questionnaire: Q1) Calculate the length and breadth of the cardboard sheet (in cms). (1 inch = 2 ½ cm) Q2) Name the shapes used in the model. 2. Choose your favourite video/model from the above links or you can choose any other topic related to our body too make a model of. 3. Collect information about. Also read from your text book. Write this information on an A4 sheet.
RUBRICS : Materials used. Method Description of the various parts of the model (draw a diagram of your model to explain the parts). E.g. parts of the brain and parts of an eye. (take help from the book.)
Learn about these parts for an oral presentation.
EVS & ICT 4 DESIGN A POSTER WITH A CAUSE Pick up any relevant cause which you believe is very important for people to know or follow. i.e. Swacch Bharat, importance of carpool, we all are equal, educate the girl child etc.
Design a Poster: Either using any of the computer software or material such as

Use sketches, drawings or pictures to illustrate the cause
Give a Caption
Write a few catchy lines to give the message.
An oral presentation will have to be given in class explaining as to why you have chosen the particular cause and what are the strong feelings you have for it? – 2 min
Best 10 posters will be displayed at the reception to display.

SPANISH
a) Assignment Booklet: In your assignment booklet do exercise pages: 13 – 16 (Refer to your text book if required)
b) Entry tickets – The Spanish speaking countries have a very rich history and in this summer vacation you have the opportunity to explore it. The students have to make/ design entry tickets of the famous historic sites and monuments of the Spanish and Latin American countries.
The tickets have to be self – designed and creative. And no printouts are allowed Material: Any decorative material can be used. Size: 8” X 4”. Colours: Any Text to be used on the entry ticket – SPANISH (Search on the internet if required)
Examples: The following are a few examples of the historical sites. You can search for more on the internet and do not consider these as the only options. Explore more. 1) La Sagrada Familia, Spain 2) Alhambra, Spain 3) Machu Picchu, Peru 4) Torres Del Paine, Chile 5) Palma Cathedral, Spain

GERMAN 1. Assignment Booklet Exercises to be completed till May. 2. “Deutschland – Ein Fotoalbum” – Present Germany through your eyes!! Read about the country and present it as Photo album (14”x10”). You may include maps, flag, various German Federal states and their flags, famous personalities, monuments, brands and logos. Let your imagination take over!
