Student Associate Member Application

Congratulations on your interest and commitment to the long term care profession. The Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) and Iowa Center for Assisted Living (ICAL) are happy to support your goals whenever possible. This membership entitles you to participate in Student Associate affairs, with the exception of the right to vote. The Student Associate membership takes effect upon approval by the IHCA and/or ICAL Board of Directors.

To become a Student Associate Member of IHCA ICAL, please complete the information below and mail it, with the $25 annual fee, to IHCA ICAL1775 90th Street, West Des Moines, IA 50266- 1563. If you have questions, contact Director of Membership Marcia Hewitt at 800.422.3106 or [email protected].

A Student Associate membership fee of $25.00 per calendar year must accompany application. I understand that the Student Associate Membership will be automatically renewed each year unless terminated, and I will be billed for the yearly membership fee.

032011 IHCA ICAL’s role in serving Iowa’s long term care providers

IHCA and ICAL are non-profit trade associations, whose members are comprised of nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living programs, senior housing communities, and residential care facilities. IHCA ICAL is dedicated to enhancing the quality of long term care services in Iowa by providing leadership, advocacy, information and education to the broad range of providers, consumers, government agencies, and others that comprise the long term care continuum. IHCA and ICAL continuously strive to improve the quality of long term care in Iowa and are dedicated to professionalism, ethical behavior, and integrity among all that provide long term care.

IHCA is governed by a member-elected board of directors, represents nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities with conferences representing single facilities, multi-facilities, non-proprietary, and proprietary facilities. ICAL, the assisted living arm of IHCA, is governed by a member elected board of directors and represents assisted living programs, senior housing communities, and residential care facilities.

IHCA ICAL represents over two-thirds of Iowa’s nursing facilities and assisted living programs.

Benefits of becoming an IHCA ICAL Student Associate member

. Attend IHCA ICAL district education, quarterly conferences, and annual convention for no charge, with any other association sponsored education programs and seminars at half the member rates. . Receive the IHCA Bulletin and/or ICAL Newslink e-newsletters that will help you keep informed on current news and information in the Iowa long term care profession. . Have access to the IHCA and ICAL Members Only website.

Student Associate membership requirements

. Student must be enrolled at an institution of higher education in a field related to long term care. . Student must notify IHCA ICAL when he/she graduates or is no longer enrolled at a college/university. . If employed at an Iowa nursing facility or assisted living, it must be at a member facility.
