1:00 P.M. IMPORTANT NOTES - JUNE FORMAL EXAMS 2017

Music exams (instrumental and strings) and Drama performances will be given individually by appointment during the examination period. Students will book an appointment with their teacher as required. A missed appointment is a missed Exam.

1. Each student is responsible for reading the exam timetable carefully and for arriving at each examination 15 minutes prior to the start time.

2. NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES – Cell phones, Smartphones, Smartwatches, IPODS etc. are NOT allowed into the exam room and naturally may not be used during exams (even if finished early).

3. You must bring pens, pencils, erasers and math instruments in clear plastic bags to the exam. Only non-programmable calculators will be permitted, when specified. Smartphones and Smartwatches are not permitted for use as a calculator. Sharing of calculators will not be allowed. Foolscap and graph paper will be provided by the school. All articles not necessary for writing the exam should be left in your locker. No food or drink is permitted, with the exception of water in a clear plastic container without labels.

4. A student who arrives more than 10 minutes late for an examination must go directly to the MAIN OFFICE to sign in. You will be escorted to your examination room. You will be allowed to write, but you will not be given additional time. A student who arrives after an examination has been written will not be permitted to write the examination and will be assigned a mark of zero.

5. All textbooks are to be returned on the day of the exam. Textbooks will be returned to the “Textbook Drop-off” room prior to the exam. Students will be given a receipt for the book returned which will be collected by the presiding teacher upon entry. Students without their textbook will need to report to their Vice-Principal to complete a ‘Promissory note’. This will allow them entry into the exam.

6. Students are to remain in the examination room for the full period of the examination. Students should use washrooms before exams begin.

7. It is understood that once the examination has begun, there is to be no communication, written, oral or by any other means, with any other student. Should you have any questions, ask a presiding teacher.

8. Students should number and write their full name and home form on each sheet of their exam. Students are responsible for seeing that none of their answer sheets are left at the desk

9. The library will be available during the examination period for quiet study between 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Food will not be available in the Cafeteria.

10. The Ontario Ministry of Education and the Toronto District School Board policy states: “Students who miss all or part of the Summative Evaluation will receive a mark of zero for the portions(s) missed, because of lack of evidence of achievement”.

It is the student’s responsibility to be aware of when and where each of their exams is being held. Any missed exams must be accounted for by a medical certificate or an official document (as outlined on pg. 27 of the school agenda) and submitted to Ms. Tuck or Mr. Miceli within 3 days of the exam. If a student is unable to report for an examination, the parent/guardian must notify the school of the absence promptly (394-7980).

11. If a student is caught cheating during an examination, the student will be removed from the examination room and will receive a mark of zero on the examination. Parents of students under 18 years of age will be notified. Circumstances may warrant further action.

The halls should be clear at all times except when you go to your locker at the beginning and end of your exam.
