PURPOSE OF INFORMATION MEETING

This meeting is to briefly explain Rotary and the Rotary Club of South Everett/’Mukilteo to you, a prospective member. We hope to provide you with useful information to help you decide whether you are interested in joining our community and international service club. This meeting allows us to discuss the time and financial commitments involved and answer questions regarding membership in Rotary.

ROTARY CLUB OF SOUTH EVERETT/MUKILTEO

 Originally sponsored by Rotary Club of Everett  Founded 1989 with 48 members, 10 of which are still in the club today  Currently 64 active members, 43 men and 23 women, from 26 to 85 years of age.  Membership consists of business people and professionals residing and/or working in the Everett and Mukilteo areas. • Leadership - A proposed member is currently an owner, president, CEO or manager who routinely and independently makes decisions that enhance the “excellence factors” of their business. • Commitment - A proposed member is expected to be willing and able to attend weekly meetings at our club. While 100% attendance is admirable and achievable, 60% minimum attendance, (including make-ups) is set as a club goal. South Everett/Mukilteo Rotary

• Involvement - A proposed member is expected to be willing and able to become actively involved at the committee level of our club and to accept responsibility for helping that group set and achieve its goals. • Generosity – A proposed member is expected to be willing and able to personally contribute to the Rotary International Foundation which provides worldwide humanitarian assistance through its Polio Plus program (which is wiping polio off the globe), and by helping to fund Rotary club projects focused on clean water, hunger, and literacy. Many of our members are Paul Harris Fellows or sustaining members having contributed or committed to contribute $1000.00 or more to the Rotary Foundation. South Everett/Mukilteo Rotary

• Fun - A proposed member is expected to be willing and able to have fun! The South Everett Mukilteo Rotary Club has a well-earned reputation as a club that has fun. We enjoy promoting that reputation, and really do have fun, sometimes without trying. The friendship and camaraderie we enjoy makes all the work seem like a party and is one of the big rewards for participating in this wonderful organization.

FINANCIAL COMMITMENTS

 Initiation Fee (Not required for returning members) $100 South Everett/Mukilteo Rotary

 Annual Dues $420 (Pro-rated, Includes $6 per week partial prepayment of lunches)  Weekly Lunch $7 paid at the meeting (actual lunch cost $13)  Weekly “Happy Bucks” $1 - $5  Annual Contribution to Rotary Foundation $100 +  Thanksgiving Baskets $100  Kmart Kids $50  NET FINANCIAL COMMITMENT @ $ 1200 PER YEAR (of which $637 is Lunches) South Everett/Mukilteo Rotary

FUND RAISING GOALS

o Annual Auction . Procure $1500 in donated auction items . Bring 4 couples to the auction o Annual Golf Tournament . Solicit Sponsors . Procure at least one Foursome South Everett/Mukilteo Rotary

TIME COMMITMENT

 Weekly meetings; 60% attendance is expected, 100% is encouraged.  Makeup meetings can augment missed meetings.  Committee meetings and events (Many of these can be used as makeup meetings)  Participation in fundraising events  District Assembly (Optional - All members encouraged to attend)  District 5050 Conference (Optional - All members encouraged to attend)  International Convention (Optional – Held in a different country each year) South Everett/Mukilteo Rotary
