Weather Pick-A-Project Due Friday, February 12 Instructions: Choose one of the following projects and make sure you follow all of the directions for the choice you selected.

Choice 1:  A report of at least 5 paragraphs (5-7 complete sentences per paragraph minimum) using CHUNK format explaining the following: how tornadoes, hurricanes or blizzards form. (Explain the process). (REMEMBER Only choose one weather event…tornado, OR hurricane, OR blizzard.)  It must include the most destructive tornado, hurricane, or blizzard in U.S. History, depending on which you chose.  It must include wind speed, how it is rated, or scale used, and strengths.  A chart and a graph must be included.  You must include where they normally form and why. (Example, a hurricane normally forms in the east Atlantic ocean because…).  You must include pictures of each strength (can be drawn, printed, or cut from a magazine).  You must list the 5 strongest tornadoes, hurricanes, or blizzards in United States history, and why they were considered the strongest. Also, list the strongest tornado, hurricane, or blizzard in Georgia and why it was considered the strongest.  ****All references used must be cited.****

Choice 2:  In the form of a power point or other electronic presentation program, complete all of the requirements in choice 1 except the 5 paragraph requirement.  ****All references used must be cited.****

Choice 3:  Create a story book with the setting being one of the severe storms (either a tornado, hurricane, OR blizzard).  Create a character or characters who are in a certain location, and they start to notice the beginning of the type of storm you chose.  You must explain what your characters are seeing or experiencing in order to explain how the storm forms.  You must include wind speed, ratings (an example for tornadoes would be EF4) , temperature, visibility, etc, .  You must compare and discuss your storm to the most destructive one in U.S. history, and discuss the most destructive one.  You must have a chart and a graph in your story, as well as pictures showing each types strength.  Lastly, talk about the most destructive or strongest tornado, hurricane, or blizzard in Georgia, and why it was considered the strongest.  ****All references used must be cited.****

CHOICE 4 ON BACK Choice 4:  Present a weather forecast as if you were a meteorologist.  Your presentation must be in writing and you must present it as if you were reporting the weather on a news channel.  You must include as a minimum several temperatures, two types of precipitation, two types of air pressure, two types of fronts, wind speed with direction, barometric pressure and humidity.  Additionally, you must present a poster (does NOT have to be gigantic; a medium size poster should work fine) which shows a weather map in color with all of the required components that go along with your report. For example, if you discuss a warm front, you must show a warm front on your poster with associated temperatures and precipitation.  Your poster must have a chart and a graph on it as well (for example amount of rain this week)  Include at least one severe storm, and discuss its formation.  Your forecast must be logical and make sense. In other words, it cannot be 95 degrees Fahrenheit and snowing with a barometric pressure of 30.95!
