English II Ballad Project-Due Friday October 30, 2015 During our poetry unit, we learned about a ballad, which is a narrative story told in song. There are famous songs that are ballads as well. For your ballad project, please select a song that is CONSIDERED to be a ballad. Then complete the 4 square by doing the following tasks:
1. Make a cover page for the ballad to express the meaning of the song. The cover page must be visually appealing. Drawings, words, and pictures can be used for the cover page.
2. Give a summary of the song-who, what, why, and describe the conflict
3. Identify two examples of figurative language used as well as cite song lyrics as an example to describe what the figurative language means. A copy of the song lyrics must be stapled behind the ballad four square and must not contain any profanity.
4. Identify two types of sound devices (repetition, rhyme, alliteration, consonance, assonance, onomatopoeia)
5. Describe tone and theme of the song. What is the central message of the song and the singer’s attitude?
*Remember, this project will be counted as a test grade. Please complete your project on time by Friday, October 30th. ANY LATE WORK WILL RESULT IN A DEDUCTION OF 30 POINTS PER DAY! After day 3, the project will not be accepted.
