Elko County 4-H Educational Scholarship

ELKO COUNTY 4-H EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Elko County 4-H Scholarship Fund provides educational scholarships, to be applied toward expenses for any college, trade school, technical school, or other post high school training.

Scholarship to be awarded:  A total of $1000.00 (one scholarship award) is available

Eligibility: Any high school senior at the time of application who  is a present Elko County 4-H member  has been a member of 4-H for at least the last two years with preference given to applicants that have been enrolled in 4-H for four plus consecutive years.  is a high school senior enrolled in 4-H the year they are filing this application  applicants may receive this scholarship award only one time

Requirements of Application: 1. Application Process: a) Submit a complete application form obtained from the Elko County Extension Office. (Make sure forms have all the required signatures). b) Provide a transcript of your high school grades. c) Secure 2 letters of recommendation from 4-H leaders other than a parent. d) All forms are due to the Elko County Extension Office by December 11, 2015. 2. Scholarship money must be used within one year of award date.

This 4-H scholarship will be awarded on applicant’s 4-H involvement. Worthiness of an applicant will be based on his/her qualifications as a 4-H member, 4-H participation on a club, county, state, and national level, junior leadership, community service, citizenship, and as a person. The 4-H Scholarship Committee will review the applications impartially. Decisions of the scholarship committee are final.

Awarding of Scholarships:

The scholarship award will be announced at Elko County 4-H Achievement Night and awardees are asked to be present. The scholarship will be given to the awardees upon completion of the first semester following selection. Money will be awarded when one copy of grades in first grading period (must have a 2.5 G.P.A.) and re-enrollment for second semester is received. In case of a yearly program, grades need to be sent in half way through completion of the program for payment of money. Scholarship money will be sent directly to the post secondary educational institution.
