Crash Test Cars Design Challenge

Crash Test Cars Design Challenge

Your Challenge is to work with a design team to create a feature on a car that will protect its passenger from injury during a crash. You must present the design to the design committee using a keynote presentation and a demonstration. Extra points will be awarded for an infomercial.

Scientific Knowledge

Identify and draw a free-body diagram (take a photo of your car) on a poster explaining the forces that are exerted on the car, the passenger and the crash wall.

Describe how Newton’s three laws of motion will apply to the collision and to the design solution.

Identify and describe the technologies (any human-made materials or devices) that will be used in the solution.

Constraints 1. Car must be made out of materials provided in the lab. 2. Building is limited to time in class. 3. Car must be able to hold an egg (passenger). 4. Car must have wheels.
