West Hanover PTA Tuesday, May 3, 2016 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm by President Smith. In addition the following members were in attendance: Joanne Decker, Nicole Louden, Melissa Creaven, Monica Marker, Amanda Sattazahn, Shelly Smith, Aimee Grimm, Melissa Leonard, Jenn Kratzer, Ashley Shirk, Alyssa Iddings, Lisa Milbrand, Tracey Murphy, Colleen Kratz, Jen Szekens, MaryBeth Sambrot, Leanne Griffo Michelle Snyder, Tina Henry, Sharrel VanWagner, Lewis Correale, Kelly Horney, Jaime Holmes, and Nicki Meyer.

A motion to approve the April minutes as written was made by Monica Marker and was seconded by Amanda Sattazhan. The motion was approved unanimously.

Recognitions: none

Treasurer Report: Will go over the budget in June. Please check class sizes and prepare for the next meeting. Cash as of 4/30/16 $29,690.25; CD balance $5,423.78 with a total of $35,114.03 available.

Correspondence: President Smith - Would like to thank everyone for their hard work. Moms and Muffins is starting off great. Thanks to the book fair and bake sale committees and all of your hard work

Presidents Report:. We need most if not all members next meeting as we will be working on passing the 2016-17 budget. Please attend if at all possible.

Vice Presidents Report: We are currently accepting babysitters for the monthly PTA meetings. If you know of someone who please refer them to Kelly Horney to get on the schedule.

Committee Reports:

Art goes to school- We are working on this. We want it to be around the testing and to not interfere with the testing. Looking at May 24, 25th. Theme is Van Gogh.

Assemblies – we are done! Nothing new.

Bake and Sub Sale – Went off great!! Thanks you to all who donated their time and goodies. WH made $3,000.00.

Book fair – Is underway. There are 2 more days and it is going great.

Consumer Rewards: The last contest has started. We should be receiving a check within 3 weeks.

5th Grade Committee – Invitations have been set and everything is moving forward.

Directory – Nothing new.

Fundraising – Nothing new at this time. International Week – Starts next week. We still need 2 volunteers for flag making.

Mayfair – Planning is coming along. The committee was looking into purchasing a banner that can be used every year. You would just have to change out the date on it with Velcro/vinyl. It was researched and can be purchased for $125.00. For advertising the committee was thinking about getting the word out to other elementary schools who do not have a Mayfair. More volunteers are needed. Please consider sharing your time and volunteering.

A motion to approve $150.00 for a Mayfair banner was made by Tina Henry. Leann Griffo seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously.

Membership – Nothing new at this time.

Moms and Muffins – The first day turned out well. It appears that the committee has gone over budget and respectfully request additional money.

A motion to approve the request for $200.00 for Moms and Muffins was made by Alyssa Iddings and seconded by Monica Marker. It was unanimously approved.

Party / Room Parents – The next and final party will be the end of the year party which will be on 6/8, which is the last full day of the year.

Reflections – Nothing new at this time.

Scholarships – Nothing new at this time.

School Spirit – Nothing new at this time.

Spirit Wear – The spring sale was a hit. There are extra shirts which will be available for sale at the Mayfair.

Service Project – Nothing new at this time.

Talent Show – Done! Nothing new at this time.

Year book – Is complete! There are still some paperback available for $14.00 and 2 hardback for $19.00. They will be available for sale at the Mayfair.

Parent advisory Committee (PAC) – Nothing new at this time.

Central Dauphin School Board Meeting – April 18 meeting Middle school schedule change approved. Approved New Health and Computer Science Curriculum - EduNova

Principal Report – The countdown is on. Only 26 days of school are left. May is a very busy month. There are a lot of activities. The PSSA testing is complete. There are not a lot of makeups. On behalf of the staff, thank you for the teacher appreciation. Field day is coming up. Please remind your children that school come before their other activities.

Unfinished business: Nothing new at this time. New business: 3 teachers are retiring. Mrs. Manley, Mrs. Conway and Mrs. Haus. Mrs. Heter requests $300.00 from the PTA for first in math prizes. There would be numerous winners. From top player in each grade level, Highest classroom, ect.

A motion to approve $300.00 for 1st in math prizes was made by Coleen Keith and seconded by Lisa Milbrand. It was approved unanimously.

There will be 2 chair positions open for the 206/17 school year. President and Secretary. These positions are a two year term. The floor was open for anyone to nominate someone for these positions. The nominated person would need to be an active PTA member in good standings.

A motion was made by Marybeth Sambrot for Shelley Smith to serve as president. This was seconded by Melissa Creaven and the motion was approved unanimously.

A motion was made by Alyssa Iddings for Sharrel VanWagner to serve as secretary. This was seconded by Colleen Keith and the motion was approved unanimously.

A motion to adjourn was made by Sharrel VanWagner and seconded by Amanda Sattazahn.
