The International Year of Planet Earth will be launched by His Excellency the President of Portuguese Republic

Organisational Structure

The Portuguese National Committee for the International Year of Planet Earth was created under the aegis of the Portuguese Commission for UNESCO in the framework of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development and is organized in three commissions:

a) Commission of Honour

b) Participating Organisations

These organisations include scientific institutions such as scientific societies, professional associations, public and private research institutions (related with activities concerning research and education on geosciences – including formal and non-formal education), private enterprises operating in Portuguese Speaking Countries, industry, universities, local authorities.
