National Defense University University Orientation Week National Defense University’s Orientation Week for Academic Year 2015-16 will be held on 3 to 7 August.

NDU’s Orientation Week is designed to acclimate students to the University, their Colleges and their academic programs. NDU’s Orientation Week consists of the University In-Processing on 3 August followed by the University Convocation on 4 August, the University Orientation on 4 August, the individual College Orientations on 5 to 7 August. The following is an overview of the events for NDU's Orientation Week: University In-Processing: 3 August 2015: Marshall and Lincoln Hall

In-Processing is a University-wide program administered by NDU’s Human Resources Directorate. Each College will provide each student with details for the in-processing. 1. The first group of students from Eisenhower and Information Resources Management College for the morning session must report NLT 0745 2. The last group of student from Eisenhower and Information Resources Management College for the morning session must report NLT 1100 3. The first group of students from College of International Security Affairs and National War College for the afternoon session must report NLT 1200 4. The last group of students from College of International Security Affairs and National War College for the afternoon session must report NLT 1500 0800 University In-Processing for Students attending: Eisenhower Information Resources Management College 1130 Lunch Break 1215 University In-Processing for Students attending: College of International Security Affairs National War College 1530 End

National Defense University’s Convocation for Academic Year 2015-16 will be held on Tuesday 4 August. Students and guests should be seated by 0745 in designated seating on the Roosevelt Hall esplanade.

Convocation is a celebration at which students, faculty, and staff gather to celebrate the official opening of the scholastic year. Originally, “convocation” meant a gathering of the clergy or the divisions of a diocese; however, the word and the event have evolved from their ecclesiastical roots to embrace the intellectual community (i.e. all of NDU).

Convocation Dress Military Uniform is Class B Civilian students Business attire Academic Regalia is strongly encouraged for all faculty

Fair Weather: Students and guests should be seated by 0745 in designated seating on the Roosevelt Hall esplanade. Faculty will gather in the Roosevelt Hall Rotunda at 0730 and participate in the processional at 0750.

Foul Weather: Students should be seated by 0810 in Lincoln Hall Auditorium. The event will be televised to faculty and guests. College Orientation: 5-6 August 2015 College Auditorium/Facilities College Orientation: 5 to 7 August—0800-1630 College Orientation is a College specific program administered by the Dean’s Office in each College. College Orientation will include topics specific to the student’s College and academic program. Each College will provide students with details on the College Orientation. Attire for all Orientation events is: Military Uniform is Class B (Khaki for Navy) Civilian students Business attire
