ITU Operational Bulletin No. 831 – 35 Tanzania (country code +255) Communication of 8.II.2005: Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), Dar-Es- Salaam, announces that number changes in the National Destination Codes (NDC), and subscriber number length for mobile cellular services, are currently under implementation in the United Republic of Tanzania and will continue up to 31 December 2005.

No. 831 – 36 ITU Operational Bulletin It is proposed to extend the mobile subscriber length from six to seven digits. This will also be in line with the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) subscriber numbers. Along with this plan, the National Destination Code (NDC) for both mobile and fixed subscribers shall be standardized by reducing the mobile network access code from three digits to only two digits. By introducing standardized lengths in this way, loss of inbound traffic to mobile networks will no longer occur as a result of the NDC differing from that of fixed networks. The current National Numbering Plan (NNP) of Tanzania: http://www.tcra.go.tz/Publications/ Numbering%20plan.doc 1.3 Effected changes and migration schedule The sections in the current National Numbering Plan (NNP) that have been reviewed are the following: 1.3.1 The “0T” format is re-defined for different services, as follows:
