Port Norfolk Civic League Meeting March 7, 2013

Meeting was called to order at 7:08

President John Lifsey welcomed new neighbors.

Evelyn Ray from the Portsmouth Master Gardener Program spoke about increasing the tree canopy in neighborhoods. If you know of a city owned area that needs a tree you can contact her. The Master Gardeners will also come out and give you a class on how to plant a tree.

Kelly Funkhouser says there is not much activity in our neighborhood at the moment. Burglaries are mostly in Mt. Herman. You can get a free Security Survey done on your home. Call Kelly and she will set it up. She will be participating in the May Law enforcement bike ride from Redding PA to DC and needs your support.

There was no Treasurer’s report.

Neighborhood Watch – The next meeting will be Thursday March 14 at 7:00. CERT is willing to set up special training classes - a minimum of 12 persons will need to attend. Call John if you are interested.

Environmental – Neighborhood Clean UP is on April 20th. Clean-up will start at 8:00 am. If Tires are being dumped on your property call Will he will have the city pick them up. If you see who is dumping behind the baker get a license number.

Home Tour – They have one home. Call Tammy if you wish to participate.

HPC – please get a permit or approval prior to getting any work done on the outside of your home.

Membership – 69 members

Fountain Park – Clean-up is on April 20th. If you have any plants you would like to donate – Paul will come and get them.

Reflection Walk – June 1st will be the cut off for ordering bricks for the Ceremony in September.

Porch Talk – Deadline is the 20th of every month to have anything put in Porch Talk. Yard Sale will be June 22nd. It will cost $10.00; you will get your home on the map, advertising, rain date insurance, and permit.

Erika – Told us about opening on various boards at the city. Winners for I Love Port Norfolk decorating contest are in Porch Talk, Web Site. She awarded winners of drawing contest. Porch Crawl will be held on April 21st, she has 7 homes. Signup on the Facebook Event Page. $15 for members, $20 for non-members.

There is a house going up at the PNEs.

Mulch drive – mulch will be delivered April 6th. Let Amy know how much you want. $4.00 a bag. $10.00 delivery fee. Boo Ya will be Oct. 19th. Registration will start shortly.

Old business – City Treasurer will sell cook books in the show case. John to delivery some to them.
