Position Description: 4-H Club Leader Agency: Brunswick County Cooperative Extension

Position Title: 4-H Club Leader (If it is a co-leader position, they would just assist in this job)

Major Objectives: To organize & manage a youth community, project, or traditional 4-H club

Major Responsibilities: Attend county leader meetings for training & updates Develop club calendar with youth to schedule activities & events Communicate with Extension Agent and Cooperative Extension staff Completion & submission of annual membership enrollment forms & medical release forms, charter application, treasurer’s book Recruitment of 4-H club members Coordination of parent volunteers/helpers Designing and/or scheduling of educational activities for club meetings

Qualifications: Work well with youth & other adults Organizational skills Communication skills, written & verbal Time management skills

Training & Preparation: Participate in orientation for new volunteers Learn to design age appropriate activities Learn about available 4-H curriculum

Time Requirements: Meet once monthly (minimum) with club & planning time (will vary)

Location: Coordinate with the Extension office to identify appropriate meeting areas

Length of Commitment: One year, renewable

Position Title: Recruiter of Volunteers

Major Objectives: Identify potential volunteers Refer potential volunteers to the county 4-H staff

Major Responsibilities: Recruit volunteers Provide a general orientation of 4-H & volunteer application to potential volunteers Work with county 4-H office staff to publicize volunteer opportunities

Qualifications: One years experience as a 4-H volunteer Familiarity with the county & its communities Good communication skills, written & verbal Understanding of and compliance with confidentiality agreement Familiarity with the county 4-H’s marketing materials

Training & Preparation: 4-H volunteer training Thorough knowledge of 4-H orientation materials

Time Requirements: Varies (flexible with volunteer’s schedule)

Location: Brunswick County Extension Office Other negotiated sites (refer to county 4-H staff)

Length of Commitment: One year with some flexibility for negotiation
