MWM 1 Gymnasium 107, Grade 6, Zaporizhia, Ukraine. Daily life in 2005 What can the life be like in 2050? What food will be in 2050? In the 1980th food was completely natural. All the people were healthy, cause they ate healthy food , in spite of deficit that took place in these years. Today a lot of products have chemical supplements . Even simple yogurt isn’t natural. Chemical industry is developing more and more rapidly. It is used everywhere and food industry isn’t the exception. People don’t think of its benefit and it means they don’t think of their health. I suppose the food in 2050 won’t be natural all. People will eat products made from inedible components, it will be tasty but it won’t be healthy. Natural products are not in fashion and not profitable. Katia Rybak 9”G”, Minsk, Belorus

The Future of Books and Reading. What is going to be in 50 years? I think that the only thing that will radically change is technology. Maybe relationship between people will change radically. The only thing that won’t change, in my opinion, is a book. It may be more perfect: as you know , more beautiful covers, other kind of paper or other changes in their appearance, but not the attitude to them. A book is our heritage. Books appeared several centuries ago. Books are our ancient undemanding friends. I think they won’t disappear just because they have been very important in history. Maybe, for people in 50 years’ time a book will be like a real treasure, maybe, it will not, but books will never disappear. I also think that all young people may not be reading books in their regular form, they will prefer to deal with information stored on CDs, but old people will read only books, because they value books and because reading literary works from the screen is bad for their eyes. A look into the Future: Daily Life We think the following changes will take place in 2050 . Food and clothes will be cheaper. People will be able to order food with the help of computers. Shops will become bigger. Computer will become the most important way of communication. There will be computer in every family. Telephone lines will be more solid. People will have earphones instead of telephones. Clothes will become smarter and more comfortable. The development of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology and other sciences will help to create intelligent machines and special machines for travelling from one place to another in a minute. People themselves will become cleverer, there will be more scientists. People will pay more attention to nature, so the world will change to the better.

Many things will change in Future. There will be a lot of robots that will do a great deal of work for people. E.g. they will go shopping and buy all the necessary things for people: clothes, toys for children, food etc. The Internet will be very cheap and easy to get. People will communicate only with the help of computers. People will wear super-light clothes with many special devices: a heating system, a shower and so on. Men will wear long hair and dark glasses with TV in them. Music will be everywhere. People will like all kinds of music. Some of them will not be speaking but singing instead. Theatres and museums will become the most popular places to visit . People will be able to touch everything in the museum and even to take part in different experiments and researches.

Peter woke up at the 7 P.M. It was still hot, but it was already dark outdoors. Peter remembered his Grandparents’ stories about people who lived with the sunshine: they woke up in the morning and went to bed in the evening. But things had changed. Because of the global warming, people had to live at night and sleep in the daytime. It was too hot to live in afternoons – the temperature was as high as Everest. Peter went out of his sleeping refrigerator. He turned on his information center. “Good morning, Peter! Now it is +36 C outdoors, in the night it’s going to be +24 C…”. The information center told him about the tomorrow’s concert of The Beatles. Peter was happy! It was his favorite rock band of the numerous groups with brought back to life members, and everybody was telling Peter that he looked like John Lennon. He put on his costume made of maple leaves – at that time everyone wore natural made clothes because of the heat. Peter went to the Internet to buy a ticket. It cost 375 fishfingers. Not very expensive, just for such guys as Peter was! He jumped out of the window and flew to school. It was situated in the river because of the heat. His teacher looked like a fish as he lived in the water. Peter sat on his chair waiting for his teacher to prepare the subjects. Peter liked school, especially Chess and Math. They were tasty: Chess – lemon and Math – strawberry. And he hated Physics – iron. “Today, Peter, you have some extra Chinese and Chemistry” – said the teacher and gave the boy two glasses with the Chinese. On that day beside these, Peter drank English, Russian, Music, Handicraft and Skateboarding. He felt the knowledge coming to his stomach, then to his blood and then to his brains. Excellent! When Peter came back home, he felt that he missed autumn. He turned on his artificial fall. The yellow and red leaves flew from the ceiling on his head. Peter turned on The Beatles, went to his sleeping refrigerator and fell asleep. It was 5 A.M. and the temperature outdoors was +40 C… Ann and Co, 9V, Minsk, Belorus

Everyone in today’s world sometimes thinks about future. Let me turn into Nostradamus for a minute. Year 2050 … Who hasn’t ever got a wonderful feeling of admiration looking at small amusing fluffy pets? Some of us enjoy playing with them, laughing at how they run after their tails, for others they are close friends because some people haven’t got time to communicate with people. But there can be problems: there are people who have allergic reaction to pets’ hair or children who can’t stand the death of their beloved cats and dogs. How can people solve these problem? In 2050 everything will change. People will invent new ways, medicines. Scientists will invent cheap ways of cloning pets (but strict measures forbidding to clone people will be taken ). Then little children will never part with their favorite pets and they will be happy. In future cats and dogs will be caring, clever and will even understand the speech of people, though they won’t be able to speak like people. Scientists will invent an anti- allergic medicine, it won’t cost very much and will be available to all. How wonderful for them it will be to cuddle a little kitten without the fear of falling ill! So I know that in future all the people will be happy! Lena Lobunets , 9B, Minsk, Belorus. People’s eating habits by the year of 2050 I think, by that time people will at last have realized what wrong and unhealthy food they have been eating for many years. For example, did you know that water, juices, drinks should be drunk before meals. In that case they won’t interfere with digestion. Fruit , vegetables , soft food should be eaten before meat, oils, fats, fish, eggs etc. « Never eat proteins and carbohydrates so, that they are in your stomach at the same time ». Everybody knows that phrase, but what does it means ?. Proteins are fruit, vegetables, cereals. Carbohydrates are meat, poultry, fats, oils, sweats ,bread. Milk is useful only for little children , but never for an adult person. Traditional British dish « bacon and eggs » is unhealthy for our stomach, because meat shouldn’t be mixed with fats or oils while preparing. I advise you to read a book by G.P. Malahov, famous Russian doctor and professor of medicine. He has created a diet and system of rules for meals and for the ways of preparing food. (You’d better not roast or bake; eat the products raw. Boiled food is better for us than baked one.) I think, people will stop saving money on what they eat. People will stop eating cheap, unhealthy, junk food. A lot of people keep to Malahov’s diet nowadays. My mother has persuaded me to try it. I’ve been keeping it until now, and there are visible results. I’ve became healthier, I seldom fall ill. Dmitry Matskevich, 9 G, Minsk, Belorus

“It’s true that tomorrow may be better – or worse. But today may be not so bad. You must appreciate the miracle that you’re alive now and forget about how you’re going to live tomorrow.” Rob Steiger I have never thought about the changes that will happen in 2050, but I think it is a very interesting task, and I want to write about the main things I would like to happen. So I my time travel starts. When I look around myself I see new cities, new buildings, new people – another planet. Their main peculiarity is that they focus more on their health than on clothes, fashion, appearance. They pursue sport during their entire life. Our descendents don’t wreck our planet like we are doing nowadays. I have noticed that they keep up their health by regular exercise, going for a walk, not eating junk food (hamburgers, French fries,) genetically modified crops; people of this new world know that the only reason for growing them is to increase business profits ). It is not surprising that I can portray them as active, ambitious and energetic persons. They value their nature preserving it in its full richness and beauty, they don’t pollute their ecosystem with compounds that are difficult to detect and are long-lived. hello, my name is Angelina McFall. I am going to talk to you about the environment, that would be 50 years from now. The Earth will be even more dirty.no matter what and I also think that there will be less and less water for us to drink becuase people are useing it all up that goes the same with food. And people die every day becuase of diseases, thre are so many! There might be new ones in antother 50 years from now. There might not be any more animals on earth becuase of everone eating them and hunting them. I have to say that there will be less tress because of the workers chopping them down just to make a bunch of stupid houses and fire wood. Farms might disappear becuse they are running out of crops and food for farming. The Atlantic, Indian and Arctic oceans might not be any good becuase of the boats dripping oil into the water and distroying fish and other living things under water. well that is my production of the future encironment.

Angel McFa ll , Delaware School for the Deaf Today, in Social Studies, we were talking about what will happen to the future. What will you think will happen to the future? Will there be new cars, how will the environment look? My guess about the world is that there will be more pollution because there is garbage underground everywhere. I bet there will be more wars in the future, more bad people killing other people for no reason. There will be raping, kidnapping etc. I bet there will be a strict law out there. Maddie Morgan Delaware School for the Deaf. Fashion trends in 50 years Fashion changes from year to year. Not to mention changes between centuries. From wonderful, magnificent fluffy dresses to severe suits, from disco style to unusual jeans, pants, skirts, shirts and up-to-date accessories. From year to year fashion develops and becomes more and more interesting and comfortable. But fashion trends are always coming back from previous generations. In fifty years some contemporary trends may look extraordinary and may be popular. Maybe, our grandchildren will go to parties in huge and fluffy dresses like ladies wore some centuries ago. On the other hand, new styles may appear. But it s unlikely, because all the styles in clothes depend on music. And I don t think that, for exemple, rockers will ever disappear! Techno styles may become widely spread. But, honestly, if we go by look of nowadays generation, I can only say, if it goes like that, in fifty years teens will be all in pursing, bangles and totally naked! Tanya Polyakova , Minsk, Belorus Every day life in 2050. Fashion in 50 years will be very interesting. Clothes will be brilliant and very comfortable .Women will also wear jeans, trousers, they will not wear skirts .Men will wear jeans, trousers and skirts! Because the climate will be very hot. Shops will be very big and brilliant .Robots will tell customers about food in the shop. Fast food will be in cafes. The food will be very tasty. In the fast food cafes there will be potatoes with meat and cheese, macaroni and a lot of tasty fast food. The petrol cars will disappear we will have electric or solar cars we will use because ecology will be bad. People will not have money we will use portable cards. There will not be markets. Alina Mulova, School 107, Saporizhia, Ukraine.

Homes in 50 years. In 50 years our flats will be very big. Our flats will have 2 rooms for 2 people. They will have 1 big kitchen, 1 living room, 2 balconies, a big hall. In the houses we will have 2 lifts: cargo lift and a lift for people. There will be from 10 up to 30 floors in the houses. We will have supermarkets on the ground floor. There will be: big computer, television, CD player in every flat. Cottages and mansions will be very romantic, large and ecological. We will have robots in our houses. People will have cameras instead of doorbells and we will use our eyes for the personal identification – for example to get into our homes. We will not have I.D. cards. Most books will disappear – we will only have one electronic book. Instead of common doors we will have automatic doors at homes. Nadia Kudriavtseva, School 107, Saporizhia, Ukraine.

Daily life in future What will our life be like in the year 2050? No doubt it will be different. It will be possible to travel in space. People will take holidays in special hotels on the moon and also on other planets. People will travel around in private helicopters. There will be regular flights to the moon. Spaceships will travel at the speed of light. First of all, people will live longer. It will be normal to live to be 120. Everyone will have a computer wristwatch. The computer will tell them everything. We will all live in `intelligent` houses. They will clean themselves and kitchens will cook food automatically. We will all have a computer which contains any book we want to read. Only switch it on and read the book on the screen. We will also watch films on giant screens on the wall in our room. But what problems will appear? Perhaps not all problems will disappear, for example global warming , overpopulation and many others. Some scientists also add to them the changing of climate and psychic strain. Some cities will be built in deserts, other cities on water. Scientists will grow new species of plants that will be called superplants. They will be able to live everywhere, even in poisoned areas. Houses will be also better. Sun batteries will provide us with electricity and warmth. People will communicate with each other using video telephones. If you want to buy something , just say it to the kitchen computer and it will buy it. So our future life will be less time-consuming, more convenient and more interesting. Humans’ Health in 2050 What will our future life be like in 50 years? Will human beings change a lot or will they be the same? I think that the entire life, lifestyle of most people won’t change. Modern young generation will have become adult by 2050. I suppose their points of view won’t change. The only thing that will be different is humans’ health. Every year there are more and more people becoming ill in the world. Every year new diseases appear and every year the smartest, the most intelligent scientists study them and try to find cures. But it’s not so easy as it can seem at first. Some operations cost huge sums of money, that’s why people should be especially careful about their health. One great thinker said, “We are the food we eat”. I agree entirely. Nowadays most people keep unhealthy lifestyle, they eat junk food and this is one of the reasons of health troubles. Generally modified crops are being tested in open fields all over the world, but no one needs them, except the companies investing in food industry. Modern man doesn’t favour sport. He prefers lying on the sofa to exercise. True sport is always a duel: a duel with nature, a duel with one’s fear, with one’s own fatigue, a duel in which body and mind are strengthened. But our generation seems to be too lazy. It may happen that generation 2005 will consist of ‘ couch potatoes”. Our life depends only on us and only we can make it worse or better.
