Hi to all our members. The Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Thursday 30 October 2008 at 19:00 so please watch your emails and sms’s and put in your nominations and agenda items you would like to have tabled.
The annual Tippler’s Trott will be coming up shortly in November and I hope everyone is ready to take on this great event. Look out for more details coming up soon.
The weather has been great and training programs have been sorted out, now is the time to get our tekkies on and start running. This is the time of year where we have all the great races as well as quite a few we all do just for fun. The next big race coming up is Tough One, I hope everyone has started training for it as it lives up to its name.
Our Prize Giving has come and gone and WOW what an event it was. Mike’s Kitchen served us wonderful food and the organization of the evening was smooth. Thank you to Denese Venter and Noeline Blignaut for making such an important evening a great success.
Many of our Runner’s and Walker’s received outstanding results. Congratulations for all your hard work and dedication through out the year.
We have meal vouchers from Mike’s Kitchen Alberton which we will be giving out at our Time Trials, so please do come and run our time trials so that maybe it could be you winning the voucher with our lucky draw that we do once everyone has finished running. CONGRATULATIONS Well done to the following members, keep it up, we are proud of you.
We entered two Team events in the last few months and our teams have once again shown that there is real spirit and determination when competing in the Alberton club colours.
Golden Reef 100 Miler – Our team (4 members) was just outside their own record set last year and completed the 160km in 11:Hours 07 Minutes. They tried very hard to defend their title; however, they were beaten comprehensively into second place by a very strong team from Irene. who finished in 10hours 04 Minutes.
JANNAS 18 Hour circuit race – Here we entered two teams of 10, a Men’s team and a Mixed team. BOTH of them won their categories. The men’s team completed 280km in the 18 hours at an average of 3:51min per km The mixed team completed 242 km in the 18 Hours at an average of 4:27:min per km

MIKE’S KITCHEN ALBERTON TIME TRIALS AND THURSDAY EVENING LONG RUNS

Please support us as the Time Trials as they are part of our Incentives now. The time trial results are printed in the Citizen Newspaper every Tuesday and in the Alberton Record every Thursday as well as on our website – www.albertonroadrunners.co.za.

Track and Field Events Track and field events are scheduled and we encourage you all to investigate and join the members who are already participating in these events.

GENERAL
Our roof has been fixed and it has been painted. Thanks to everyone that assisted in making our club house whole again. If you would like to, Buy – A – Brick, for only R100 and help us raise some funds for club house repairs please contact Andries Come and have a look at the club house, we have put some bricks up on the wall. It really looks awesome! We also have old stock of T-shirts which we are selling really cheap (Samples have been put up against the back wall in the club).
New vests are available from the clubhouse.
We have a few tracksuits available and if your size is not available, you can place an order with the Committee member on duty or by e-mailing the request to [email protected]
Reflective vests can be bought for R30.00 each as well as new reflective vests that have our name printed on it for R40 each. Please buy one so that we can be safe on the road together.

Licenses will be sold during the following hours for the rest of the year: Tuesdays: 6pm – 7:30pm
