L-Team 5th Season Kickoff August 25th, 2013: LIVE Back-roads Bikers: This team will meet once a month, Saturday mornings from 8AM-Noon and will ride through the back roads of Florida on motorcycles. Band: This team meets every Thursday evening (either 7PM or 8PM) and offers musicians a chance to get together and practice and grow their talents. Those that feel comfortable will play on Sunday mornings for worship. For more info or to sign up you can contact Tom Kern at [email protected].

Co-ed Softball: This team is practicing now. The league starts here in Mount Dora on October 3rd. Games are on Thursday evenings at the Frank Brown Sports Complex. Cost is $25 per player. Family Fun: Family Fun is a team that will meet monthly at theCross for a family movie night with pizza/popcorn and also other times scheduled by members on our team calendar at MeetUp.com. God's Girls Book Club: This team meets together the 2nd Thursday of the month at 6PM at various places in and around Mount Dora. Feel free to bring your knitting, crocheting, and a desire to have an uplifting experience, as we discuss the books we read together. M.O.P.S. Group: : This team will be joining the Golden Triangle M.O.P.S. group and will meet twice a month starting Wednesday morning, September 11th, at First Presbyterian Church of Eustis from 9:30 till 11:30 am. . M.O.P.S. is a group of moms dedicated to encouraging each other in a relevant, growth-oriented, and purposeful way (http://mops.org/). The First Sunday Night Dinner Group: Everybody eats! We do too! This team will go out to eat the first Sunday of every month at 5PM at different restaurants around the area. For more info contact Judy Nutter at [email protected] or call her at 352-223-1401.

Wine and Cheese: This team meets twice per month to enjoy wines and cheeses in a comfortable atmosphere! We get to know each other through having different people host it at their homes. So come, eat, drink, and be merry with us! For more info contact Moriah at [email protected] or text/call her at 352-434-4725 LOVE Blessed Yarn: This team meets twice monthly to crochet or knit prayer shawls (for Hospice), afghans (for Ruth’s House) and baby blankets (for teen pregnancy groups). God's Helping Hands: This team, that is open to all people, meets as needed to visit members and attendees of theCross who are in the hospital, nursing home, etc. For more info contact Claire Duprey at [email protected].

Habitat for Humanity: This L-Team will participate in volunteering at a Lake County Habitat job sites one Saturday each month. This is an amazing opportunity to help dedicated, low-income families in need of safe and affordable homes. No specific skills are needed. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Hand in Hand: This team will meet once or twice a month on Tuesday evenings and is designed to walk hand in hand with those going through troubled times, just as God walks with us during our troubled times. We expect to learn together as a team through God's guidance how to best support those that God sends us. There is no experience necessary. Lake Cares: Many of us volunteer with Lake Cares Food Pantry. Volunteer jobs include any of the following: stocking shelves, cleaning, interviewing clients, packing food, praying/chatting with clients, special projects, etc. Best days for volunteering are Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 8-11AM. Relay for Life: This team meets on a monthly basis and is designed to provide info on cancer detection and prevention and treatment and raise money for American Cancer Society through events leading up to Sorrento’s Relay for Life in 2013. Safe Seniors: This team meets as needed and is designed to help out the Senior Citizens in our area with anything from trimming trees, cleaning gutters, checking smoke detectors, cleaning ceiling fans and lights, moving objects, etc. All of this is done free-of-charge and is organized by Laura Whittlesey. Sewing for the Homeless: This team gets together on an ongoing, periodic basis and puts together simple quilts for the homeless. It will meet at the church. For more info please contact Cindy Glienke at [email protected] or contact her at 352-589-7646.

Trunk or Treat Planning Team: This team meets to coordinate, plan, and organize our Trunk or Treat's for October 25th and 26th. Meeting times vary. For contact info please contact Don and June Moore at [email protected].

LEARN Calling all Captains: This team will meet the 2nd Monday of the month at the church from 6PM-7PM. No need to sign up. It is open for all people, but especially meant for L-Team Captains and leaders. God is calling all of us to be leaders on mission and this team will help give us instruction and motivation to be the best leaders on mission that we can be. High School Bible Study: All high-schooler’s are invited to come Monday’s at 7-9PM in the youth room for fun, Bible study, and some great fellowship. For more info or to sign up for the team contact Zach at [email protected].

Sunday morning Bible Class: Sunday mornings we have a great opportunity to explore the Bible together. Come to this non-intimidating, fun class at 930AM led by Ralph Nutter at Black Bear Smokehouse, right next to the church. "Why Jesus?" and Discussion: This team meets Wednesday nights from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Please bring a dish to share.
