The meeting of the Auxiliary Unit 136 was called to order by President, Tracy Kinnick at 7:00 p.m. with 19 members present, prayer by Chaplain, Jess Johnson followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble.

Minutes: Motion by Nancy Johnson to approve July minutes, second by Deb Morris.

Treasurer’s report: Nancy Johnson gave the Treasurer’s report. There was a 10 cent correction. Sheryl Carpenter and Pat Johnston turned in receipts.

Chaplain’s report: Chaplin, Jess Johnson reported three get well cards were sent: McKayla Poss, Tina Koob and June Abel. A sympathy card was sent to Pat Johnston. Three thinking of you cards to: Vickie Kalous, Kathy Lawrence, and Betty Jean. A congratulations card was sent to Camryn Carlson. Two visitations were made: Villa Maria and Maria Court.

Audit Committee: Monica McDaniel, Barb Giovanni and Jess Johnson reported that the books are in good order.

Children and Youth/JR Activities: Jess Johnson reported that Camryn Carlson has completed the required activities to earn her Poppy patch. Jess explained that the National President’s Scholarship Fund bake sale will have a presale beginning July 18th and pick up will be Sept. 5th. Flyers are coming out soon. Camryn’s sales goal is $100. A Junior Facebook has been created to help promote the Junior program.

Villa Maria & Maria Court: Sheryl Carpenter reported that small $2 bears were purchased for the 4th of July and the Jr’s made cards to with them. Next holiday: Halloween, Sheryl has cards and bags but will need candy. Veteran’s Day gifts will be hanging door bells.

VA&R Report: Sheryl Carpenter reported that Rick Kennedy isn’t able to schedule a visit to answer questions on coupon books. Sheryl reported that the popcorn tour will generate $120 which will be used to purchase more coupon books.

Fundraisers: Deb Crawford reported current total coozie profit of $172 as of July 11th. Robbie Humbolt sold 50, which will add another $100 profit. Deb reported that the coozies will be available to purchase at all Post events and anyone wanting to help sell them would be great. Total profit once all coozies are sold will be $851.50. Old Settler’s Friday night will be kept simple: big hot dogs, & sloppy joe’s or bratz and chips. Sheryl Carpenter has offered her remaining Stroot’s gift card of $135 to help purchase meat and she also purchased burger baskets for the event. Deb also reported that she will ask for a budget at the August meeting. Deb Herndon was asked to print the signs again as she did last year.

Membership report: Sheryl Carpenter reported on the 2016 members with a total of 131. Deb Herndon asked about possible increase in dues. Sheryl explained the process and that we will not have an increase. Other questions on membership dues were asked: when and how much. Sheryl explained that statements will

Page 1 go out in August but you can renew at any time. Sheryl also informed us that the Per Capita Tax of $25 was not received from department so it did not get paid last year.

Volunteer Hours Report: Carol Benson reported total hours of 5171.5 of which, 4859 were flag displays, 312.5 were service hours and a total of $1055.15 in coupon values from 4 members. Donations were $473.95. Total of 18members reporting. Junior Volunteer hours report: 23 total hours, 23 service hours and donations of $40.

Communications: Trish Carroll reported a thank-you card from Scott Circle for the gift and a thank-you letter from Rick Kennedy for the Auxiliary donation of $600 to purchase coupon books. 100 veterans will receive a free meal.

Old Business: Coupon books: Deb Herndon reported that she had dined at the Patriot Café and the cost was about $7 for a burger, fries and a drink.

New Business: Boot Camp in Canton, KS on July 23rd for $5, lunch included. Let Tracy Kinnick know if you are attending. Next meeting we will vote for Historian. Jean Horstman showed the gift bags that she has been making for gift shop and reminded everyone to bring any extra ribbon to the next meeting.

Announcements: Connie Evans 70th birthday party will be July 16th. The Nations of Patriots will also be coming through that evening and the Legion will be providing dinner. Susan Lee asked if someone would turn the ovens on early. Several volunteered.
