In Attendance:

1. Remnant  A campus administry – focus on black religious traditions  First meeting refreshments and publicity  Conference fees (108 for 4 peoples, 27 per person) o Hotels for 2 nights o Mainly for board members to better serve the campus o Can also offer conference to other people, just weren’t sure about interest . Paul – must be inclusive of community  Honorarium 950 o 5 college publicity o Artist that focuses on black religious traditions o Will happen in chapin or the powerhouse, deciding which would fit amount looking for  Motion to fund – 5,0,0

2. Model UN  Conference fees for conference o For 16 people, 75 each o Delegation fee 65, accommodation fee (4 rooms, 3 nights)  Motion to fund – 5,0,0

3. Mr. Gads  Paul – don’t fund Mr. Gads because they are an exclusive group, should go to student activities

4. Table Tennis Club  Ping pong materials, money already reserved  Already figuring out where to store table, but have been told nowhere concrete to store it yet  Will probably not keep in keefe, so cant get through keefe fundings  Paul – should ask McBride to ask if tables can be stored there 5. ACSU  Decorations for where’s the love event  Have cooking nights food, but no decorations  Motion to fund – 5,0,0

6. WAMH  Putting together an event oct 7, Saturday in marsh  Will have 3 local bands, would like to have additional 300 for a 4th band (honey and the sting)  Accommodations – for advertising and food for the band o Food is rider items (max 50)  Bringing in local bands people may not be exposed to  Paul – marsh Friday nights?  Aditi – not marsh organized, so concern about the location? A bit more exclusive? o Is open to everyone, space that’s most readily available  Tess – marsh just as much about the arts as others  Paul – how long are the sets? How many people? o About 45 minutes, maybe 150  Motion to fund

7. Theatrical Choreography  4 steel brass swords, bag for swords, stipend for instructor  Paul – is there overlap between these equipment and those used by HEMAC o Not the same since these tend to be flashier  Tess – how many people in the club? o About 15 (7 the lowest, highest about 25)  Meet weekly  Motion to fund – 5,0,0

8. Computer Science Club  Intro meeting food 50  Motion to fund – 5,0,0

9. La Causa  Noche latina food 500  Cooking night food 500  Ramy – noche latina? o Applied last semester, but were turned down o Want to celebrate other south american cultures other than Mexican o September is Hispanic culture month, so want to celebrate  Aditi – where is it held? o Looking for the place – planning friedman room  Paul – have already allocated most of food budget per semester o Have 100 left in food rule  Manny – could reallocate money from other events to this event to fund  Allocate 100 for cooking night  Motion to fund – 5,0,0

10. Gospel Choir  Monthly musician 1000 per semester (comes in 2-3 times a month)  Giant slayers conference in September o Registration is 27 each for 6 people o Hotel rooms is 300 (2 rooms, 1 night)  Mohamed – how many people attends the monthly musician o Members of gospel choir, about 20-25  Practices are 1 hr per meeting  Tess – what does he play? Can ask a student? o Plays keyboard and have tried looking for other sources  Have been promised that the musician would be funded the first bc meeting in an email last semester from bc member  Help prepare them for a concert they hold also  Motion to fund – 5,0,0  Paul – will be paid through Amherst College pay roll

11. United World Club  Conference fees – 7 people potentially going  Initially a group of alumni – group concerned about global work and peace work  Brown having a conference to talk about humanitarian impact  Aditi – isn’t this affiliated with the united world colleges? o All members do not necessarily have to be a member, do have alumni from there, just kept the name and the ideas from the high school experience  Manny – how did they find people interested in joining o Have a fb group  Have not had an intro meeting, will hopefully have one next week  Manny - Will have to publicize the event to everyone? o Can do daily mail  Needs to be emergency funded since it will be this weekend  Also want to request for an intro meeting publicity and food  Red Cross Representatives  Food is not integral to the event, so discussion food (only 50)  Need travel costs, and have been trying to negotiate so red cross people wont have to stay the night o Will have 2 coming from boston o Paul – seems like a large amount for 300 for 2 people coming here together, can allocate 150  Motion to fund – 5,0,0 12. ASK  ASK – Amherst safe space for kinksters  Food and publicity for intro meeting  Will be emergency funded  Motion to fund – 5,0,0  Motion to emergency fund – 5,0,0

13. Archery Club  1500 for space and rental, 2500 for coaching, 500 for zipcar  Also intro meeting food and publicity  Manny – have tried starting archery club before, but have been shot down o Has been a work in progress since last year o Will be in florence, ma o Got safety and information about this coach, etc  Paul – have aas vans, so to limit cost of zip car, so can try to request in the future  Tess – how many members o Got 150 sign up  Aditi – how will this work space wise and how will the zip cars work o Each meeting will have 15-20 people o Paul & Manny – like outing club, have a lottery system, etc o Aditi – is 500 for the zipcar for the sem or the month? . Would be safer to have 500 for now  Motion to fund – 5,0,0  2 hrs for 1 day is for coaching (money for coach), the other day is for open range (150 for space and rental fees)

14. Mock Trial  Coaching fees for fall sem 2000  Paul – has been funded before  Motion to fund – 5,0,0

15. Asian Student Associated  Intro meeting publicity and food  Paul – what is the overlap between ASA, CSA, KSA, MSA, etc? How is this different?  Motion to fund – 5,0,0

16. Poker Club  Poker table tops 110, poker chips 135, fold out table 75, table covers 10  Intro meeting publicity and food  Decorations for future events and utensils  Hand sanitizer because people reuse chips and get dirty etc  Paul – how many people in this club? Where do they meet? o Have 63 members signed up, last year about 20 came, about 30 committed o Right now meet in the octagon, but another group wants to switch, so many switch  Paul – have paid for a lot of the equipment for poker club before, and all this material is property of AAS, so where is this o Materials still there in basement of james, but will not be enough for increase in members  Manny – inventory check? o 3 table tops (hold 8 people tops each) o 4 cases of chips (750-100 per case) o No table covers and no fold out tables o Not enough small tables in octagon, so need those  Manny – premature to buy this much equipment before having a first meeting, so should see interest first before buying  Aditi & Paul – could change locations? o Tried, but have not been successful o Paul – should email Paula  Paul – doesn’t make sense to buy table to cater to a space that does not have enough small tables, should try to relocate  35 is based off of email set out to people and who responded to it  Aditi – even if that many people signed up, maybe not everyone will show up on the same day, so should wait until have at least 1 or 2 meetings  Tess – for an intro meeting, if theres not enough equipment for everyone to play, might be discouraging from joining the club  Paul – not really having a party or concert so no real need for decorations, and not cooking night, so no real need for utensils  Hand sanitizer is based off fact that people eat and chips get dirty  Manny – what are table covers for? o Are for regular tables  Table the table tops, poker chips, and fold out table  Zero decorations and utensils  Fund intro meeting and hand sanitizer  Ramy – what were decorations for? o Want to get reusable decorations like balloons and center pieces of pokers, and items for poker parties since want to have party like events in the future o Manny – if do end up having event in the future, should come back and ask o Paul – could get funding from student activities for this party  Motion to fund – 5,0,0

17. Hip Hop Club  Intro meeting food  Needs to be emergency funded (will be tomorrow)  Would like to put on 3 concerts during the semester o Will be sept 25, oct 16, oct 2  1st concert – 2 artists o 300 for gods wisdom, 250 for mind and soul o Will be in Humphries house o Each artist about 35 min o No transportation needed  2nd concert – 2 artists o 750 for mal devisa, 600 for Latasha o In powerhouse o Each artist is about 45 min – 1hr o Mal devisa coming in from NY, need 200 o Latasha also needs 200 o Shouldn’t need 200 for trip from NY – fund 150 o Also need hotels for 1 night for Mal devisa and Latasha  3rd concert – done w ac after dark o 1200 for summer of 91 o in powerhouse o each artist about 1 hr o Paul – how much is ac after dark contributing? . Not sure o Coming in from boston – need 100 for transportation  Manny – attendance for past concerts? o Cypher league – powerhouse was pretty much packed until end o Thurs event was not packed, but still well attended  Paul – ask artists if they can get transportation and hotels themselves and will reimburse them for it  Manny – are there more concerts for the rest of the sem? o Planning for 1 more concert later in the semester  Concerts also need publicity  Motion to fund – 5,0,0

18. Amherst Film Society  Intro meeting food and publicity  Region free blu-ray player – have one in keefe and stirn auditorium but if film society were to use it, would have to pay for licensing fees  Manny – is this a regular player? o This is a region free player that can play films from all over the world o Wont have to pay licensing fees going forward o Paul – where will this films come from . Can go rent the film and play this o This blu ray player will be set somewhere o Paul – may be more appropriate for keefe to purchase and own this and stay in keefe  Fund intro meeting and table blu-ray player  Motion to fund – 5,0,0

19. APU  2 events  Doug Bandow on Sept 30 and Ralph Nader on Oct 6  Already have outside funding  1 hotel and transportation already funded in club budgets  Not sure about travel plans yet (not sure about location)  Motion to fund – 5,0,0  Halve honorarium for Doug to seek cosponsorship  Motion to fund – 5,0,0
