Throughout the semester students will actively engage in 13 increasing their vocabulary base and understanding basic grammatical rules in the target language. 14 Finally, students will be able to identify characteristics of Spanish-speaking countries and cultures. 15 16 Required Class Materials for Every Day: 17 o 3-ring binder - Index cards 18 o 4 Binder Dividers - highlighter 19 o Loose-leaf notebook paper 20 o Black or Blue Ink Pen and pencil 21 22 Grading: 23 The student’s grade will be based on a point system that gives values to daily work, quizzes, tests, 24 projects, etc… The final exam will account for 25 percent of the student’s final grade. Each semester will 25 be worth 37.5 percent of their grade. Everyone must do an 43 equal amount of work required for the lesson/activity. I will assign or deduct points for those students 44 who are not on task. 45 46 Assignments: McNally - Syllabus 2 1 This is a preparation for the student to understand the material covered in class. Listen carefully to 2 directions given; always do your best. 3 Homework will be assigned regularly and needs to be complete in order to receive credit for the 4 assignment. 5 6 Make-up work: 7 Late work is generally unacceptable. Students will be given a zero for the assignment until it is made up. 8 An assignment is considered late if it is not turned in on the assigned due date. There will be a deduction 9 of 10 points per day for up to five days past the due date before the grade will remain a zero. 10 11 ***All notes and assignments will be posted on http://danila.cmswiki.wikispaces.net/ 12 13 Tutoring: 14 It will be available by appointment only on Thursday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. I am staying after 15 school for your benefit, so in order to receive help please come prepared with specific questions. 16 Because we are using a new curriculum that is less dependent on the textbooks you need to have 17 your notebook organized. PLEASE ACCESS TO MY SPANISH WIKI SPACE. There are many 18 links that are helpful with all current vocabulary, class work and activities related to the class. 19 20 Class Guidelines: 21 1. Be respectful to the teacher, other students, and school property at all times. 22 2. Be in your seat and ready for class when the bell rings. 23 3. Be polite (raise your hand, choose your words wisely, try not to interrupt). 24 4. Refrain from grooming yourself in class (i.e. brushes, picks, lipstick, mirrors…) 25 5. No gum, food, or drink is allowed in class. The only exception is water. 26 6. Stay on task. 27 28 I am looking forward to a challenging, productive year. My main goal is to prepare you so that 29 you will succeed in your Spanish class.
