Workshop Pre-requisites

1) A Facebook account. In order to programmatically access data from Facebook a Facebook application is required, and Facebook applications can only be created through a Facebook Developer user account. a. If you already have a Facebook account, proceed to step b. To create a Facebook account, go to https://www.facebook.com and click the green “Sign Up” link at the top of the page. b. After creating your account you need to register as a Facebook developer. To do so follow these instructions: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/create-developer- account/

2) A personal laptop with the following applications installed: a. Python 2.7.6

a.i. To install Python go to https://www.python.org/downloads/ a.ii. Click the “Download Python 2.7.6” button a.iii. After python-2.7.6.msi has finished downloading open the file and follow the instructions in the installation wizard a.iv. If you changed the installation folder, write down the new location and bring this record to the workshop b. Pip b.i. Go to: https://pip.pypa.io/en/latest/installing.html b.ii. Follow instructions under “Install pip”

c. Git c.i. Go to: http://git-scm.com/ c.ii. Click the “Download for …” button c.iii. After file has downloaded open and follow installation instructions

d. PyCharm Community Edition (or other IDE/text editor) d.i. Go to: http://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/download/ d.ii. Click the “Download Community” button d.iii. Open installer and follow installation instructions
