Urban Hike Via TTC to Casa Loma!

Mississauga Beaver Scouts: Urban Hike via TTC to Casa Loma! Join us as we travel back in time to visit a REAL CASTLE.!

On Saturday January 14, 2017 12:15 to 4:30 p.m. 1 Austin Terrace Toronto, Ontario M5R 1X8

(Before we begin our urban hike adventure, please make sure you eat lunch at home and go to the washroom too).

Our adventure begins when we meet at the Kipling Subway station. We will ride the subway to the Dupont station. Casa Loma is a 10 minute walk from there! (dress for the weather) As we step into the castle, we travel back in time over 100 years and begin to explore this magnificent castle at a time that sees the beginning of electricity in the home, indoor plumbing as sooooo much more!  Explore secret passages  Take in the spectacular Toronto city view from both towers or the back garden terrace.  Traverse the 800 foot tunnel, featuring an exhibit of Toronto’s Dark Side, with archival photos from landmark events in Toronto’s history in the early 1900’s  The garage, stables and carriage house features an exhibition of vintage cars and a carriage from the 1900s.  Visit the Queen’s Own Rifles military gallery  Five acres of beautiful estate gardens surround the castle and offer sparkling fountains and dazzling displays of rare annuals and perennials that change with the seasons.  Audio guides (English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, ASL and Audio Descriptive tour for the visually impaired) are included in admission – subject to availability on a first come first served basis  Also included in admission is the Pellatt Newsreel: The Man Who Built Casa Loma, a docudrama styled as a 1939 newsreel tracing the arc of Sir Henry Pellatt’s life. Dress Uniforms and outdoor wear for a 10 to 15 walk to /from the subway station Costs: Beaver Scouts $10 admission + $0 transportation Scouters and parents $17 admission + $6 transportation Special custom crest: $5.00 Snacks: please bring your own nut free snack and beverage

We will return the same way we arrived.

 Let’s follow the Canadian Path---the educational guide will be provided to Section Scouters if you wish to do lots of amazing activities in your meetings before and after this adventure---there are so many possibilities you won’t want to pass this up!  Scouters will be contacted with all the logistics once all the registrations have been received.
