Hi ECA Members,

I'll be sending a monthly update of news and free events to you -- if you have items to include in the future, you can post things directly to our list serve, or you can send them to me for inclusion in a monthly update, next one December 1. As our list serve gets up and running, please have patience! We hope it will be a useful resource for all of us.

I hope you all had a Happy Halloween! Thanks to Cal Daggitt and the Edgemoor Club for helping host the ECA Halloween Party last night. Superman, Captain America, Princesses, Mini Mouse and some 70+ kids and their parents enjoyed the festivities. I am looking foward to seeing those kids and their families running on Sunday, Nov. 3 in the Edgemoor 5K Classic! Thanks in advance to our race directors Alysa Emden and Julie Doll for putting on the 16th race and helping our neighborhood raise money for Bethesda Elementary & Bethesda Library.

Best Wishes, Judy Gilbert Levey ECA President

The Compost Crew Check out compostcrew.com/edgemoor if you are interested in a special offer, trial run, of the Compost Crew service. Using this service can make a huge difference in what you are sending to the County landfills -- so much of our thrown-out food and organic waste (dog hair! oily pizza boxes!) can be composted. When 15 neighbors have signed up, the service can get started -- just 7 more to go.

New Year's Day Brunch An early warning to mark your calendars for the ECA Neighborhood Brunch, 10 am to 2 pm! Location to be announced. The ECA will provide Bagels, Juice, Water, Coffee & Mimosas -- you can bring your favorite dish to start the new year and share with your neighbors.

Tree Planting On Friday, Nov 1, flags will be put in the right of way spaces where new trees are going to be planted, thanks to the Friends of Edgemoor & the ECA. If you see one of those flags in your right of way, please leave it! It will be a guide for marking by Miss Utility and subsequent tree planting that will take place the week of November 9. If you have any questions about a flag in your right of way, please contact me at [email protected]. Also, if you have a tree in your right of way, planted in years past, that still has support wires, rabbit/tree protection or anything that might girdle the trunk, please remove the supports! Although they are critical for newly planted trees, they will eventually compromise tree health if left in place too long.
