Substitution of Walk the Dog with the Planned Group B Tests with TWO SPHERES Satellites

Radiogram DV4-IV: Substitution of “Walk the Dog” with the planned Group B tests T2 and T6 showing TWO SPHERES Satellites performing docking manoeuvres

10.3.4. DEMONSTRATION DV4-IV: VIDEO RECORDING OF THE PLANNED SPHERES ISS TEST SESSION 5, GROUP B T2 and T6

Purpose of demonstration: Video record the features of the SPHERES Satellite, and film two docking manoeuvres -T2 and T6 which will be run consecutively - of TWO autonomous, free-flying SPHERES.

NOTE:

RC: shooting with handheld camcorder in USOS

Required equipment: SPHERES equipment

DEMONSTRATION PREPARATION: EA: Preparation according to SPHERES ISS Test Session 5: Docking and Reconfiguration protocol procedures, at the start of the Group B: “MIT 5: Docking Multi Sat” Tests.

RC: Prepare the camcorder in the USOS according to the following NOTE and either of the Video Setup options indicated in Section 10.3.4.1 below. Preferred option at crew discretion.

NOTE:

1. Ensure that the Focus button/switch on the left of the camera is in the AUTO position; 2. Ensure that the Auto Lock button/switch on the back of the camcorder is on the top Green-coloured setting; 3. Just before you begin shooting, move in to choose a MID-shot of EA with the SPHERES in the centre; 4. Now view this main shot and allow the camera to adjust for 5 seconds; 5. Now record the shooting session as normal. 10.3.4.1 VIDEO SETUP in USOS

10.3.4.2 FILMING OF EXPERIMENT:

1. EA: Position yourself in the centre of the frame, facing the camera with both SPHERES “floating” at rest in front of you after Group B T1 is completed RC: Frame MID-shot on EA and SPHERES. Put camera in record mode and begin recording

2. EA: Hold SPHERES down; out of view of the camera. Release SPHERES so that it drifts back into its “at rest” position in the centre of the frame. RC: Hold MID-shot on EA

3. EA: Point out main features of SPHERES equipment; the sensors etc. RC: Move in very slightly and frame MID-shot of key features of the SPHERES equipment (NOTE: Take care, if feasible, that focus is not lost)

4. EA: Prepare for Group B T2 by positioning both SPHERES Satellites in the middle of the work area and stand in frame while satellites perform T2. RC: WIDE shot of EA as the SPHERES Satellites perform T2 docking to a fixed target manoeuvre in front of him

5. EA: Prepare for Group B T6 by again positioning both SPHERES Satellites in the middle of the work area and stand in frame while satellites perform T6. RC: WIDE shot of EA as the SPHERES Satellites perform T6 docking to tumbling target manoeuvre in front of him 6. EA: Point out infra-red/ ultra-sound beacons on different surfaces of the ISS/ USOS RC: MID- SHOT of EA pointing out ultra-sound beacons

7. EA: Repeat step 7 RC: Move in to get CLOSE-UP shot of one of the ultra-sound beacons. (NOTE: Take care, if feasible, that focus is not lost)

8. END OF DEMONSTRATION DV4-IV

RC: Set camcorder in standby / off mode. On the back of the camcorder ensure that the auto lock button is in the top Green-coloured setting.
