Scroll down the page, you will see a box on the right side with the heading Resources click Register for Classes (or pay for Missed Drive or DOL Exam). Next you will click on Yelm , then register for this course .
Once you complete your registration/payment, you will receive a receipt via e-mail confirming enrollment/registration for the course. Below is information on how to pre apply for a learners permit.
Go to dol.wa.gov In the orange box, click on the words Get a driver license Click on the words Steps to getting your first license . On the next page click on the words Instruction permits. The next page will take you to the requirements. Under How to get an instruction permit, click on the words pre-apply online. The last page will take you to the instructions page. Finally, under #3 Pre- apply online, click on the word Pre-apply. This takes you to the form that must be filled out with all the important information regarding the identity of the student. Upon completion of this form you will be given a confirmation number. You must give this number to your traffic safety instructor, Dennis Gubser at dennis_gubser @ycs.wednet.edu. He will log into a special DOL account and verify that you are enrolled in the traffic safety course. Please allow the instructor 24 to 48 hours for transmission of information. Once the confirmation number has been entered into DOL’s database, the parent and student can go to the local DOL office and obtain a student driving permit. Currently the cost is $25.00.
The student must bring two proofs of identity 1. *Certified birth certificate, or 2. Military photo ID, or 3. Passport, or 4. WA state ID card, or 5. School yearbook with recognizable photo 6. Social Security Card with students’ signature
** If you have a Washington State Identification Card, you won’t have to preregister on DOL’s website, but y ou must give the number to your traffic safety instructor and wait 24/48 hours, then go to DOL for permit**
