Project for The Giver

You must create a Facebook page for Jonas, the protagonist of The Giver. The information for the Facebook page will be based on the novel and must be supported with chapter numbers or page numbers.

Facebook project must include:

1. Picture of Jonas –This can be carefully drawn or printed off a computer.

2. Network – This is a creative way to say where you come from. So where would the character come from?

3. “My Info” – Write three biographical facts about Jonas.

4. “Friends” – Include three top friends with pictures (can be drawn or printed at home) and names (These should be characters your character is linked to in the story, play, or through research).

5. “Groups” – Include two groups Jonas could have been associated with. (This is a creative way to include more facts or interests of your character.)

6. One “Current Status” update - Say something that is on your character’s mind – or what they are doing at the end of the novel. (This should relate to a character trait)

7. Three previous status updates - Say something that happened to your character – or what was going on at specific moment in the past (The status updates MUST relate to the provided transfer of memories.)

8. Two comments for each status update. You must write these from the character’s “friends.”

9. Photos - create 6 colorful illustrations for the photo album. These MUST be original art – no clip art or computer generated images. Remember to include a caption and put the chapter referenced in parentheses.

If you want to do it on the computer, rather than by hand, you can download the word.doc version of the Facebook page on Mrs. Whiddon’s website.

Please remember to try your hardest, be as creative as possible, and remain accurate to the novel throughout the project. The Facebook should reflect what you know about the character, his traits, and the novel. Jonas Picture CURRENT STATUS
