Membership Qualifications Are As Follows

ETSU Psi Chi

Invitation to Membership

The ETSU Chapter of Psi Chi cordially invites qualified students to apply for membership. Psi Chi is the official International Honor Society in Psychology. Dues are paid only once, but membership is a lifetime honor and members enjoy an array of benefits.

Membership qualifications are as follows:

1) Has completed ≥36 credit hours (can include ETSU hours and transferred from other institutions)

2) Has completed ≥12 credit hours AT ETSU (cannot include hours transferred from other institutions)

3) Has completed ≥9 credit hours in PSYCHOLOGY (courses PSYC prefix ONLY, including courses officially transferred to ETSU as PSYC courses)

4) Has officially declared major or minor as Psychology at ETSU

5) Has Overall GPA of:

≥3.314 for those applying with 30 to 59 credit hours completed (Sophomores)

≥3.300 for those applying with 60 to 89 credit hours completed (Juniors)

≥3.369 for those applying with 90 or more credit hours completed (Seniors)

Note: GPA cutoffs based on Institutional Research report of Spring 2014 College of Arts & Sciences students in the top 35% of their classes. This is the national organizational standard.

6) Has In-Major Psychology GPA of ≥3.00 (not rounded up, courses with PSYC prefix ONLY)

7) Has high standards of personal behavior.

***Once you submit your online application, it will be reviewed and eligibility will be confirmed. To apply, do the following:

1.Go to www.psichi.org and click on the “JOIN” drop-down menu. The select “Become a Member”

2. Select APPLY NOW (found at the bottom of the page)

3. Choose East Tennessee State University from the Local Chapter drop‐down menu and fill out the application including your name, email address, and Student ID Number (E#)

4. At the bottom of the page, check the box authorizing the faculty advisor to review your college records to determine eligibility

5. Add your Name/Signature and SUBMIT 6. IN ADDITION to the online application, print this page and fill out the information below and submit to the Psi Chi mailbox in the Psychology Office (420 Rogers-Stout Hall) with a check or money order payable to ETSU Psi Chi in the amount of $65 in a sealed envelope addressed to the attention of Psi Chi and/or Dr. Shannon Ross-Sheehy.
