Keesler Spouses’ Club: Deadline April 1, 2014. This scholarship is for military dependents pursuing a college, university, or vocational school in the fall of 2014. Eligible dependents will be members of the Keesler AFB Family, including dependents and spouses of Active Duty, Guard/Reserve, Retired, Deceased, and DoD Civilian employees. Applications are available in the guidance office or on-line at www.keeslerspousesclub.com.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity: Deadline April 10, 2014. This black fraternity will award up to three $1000 scholarships to young men who demonstrate leadership, community involvement, have an 84.5 or higher GPA, and an18 or higher GPA. A letter of recommendation and a 500 word essay highlighting your leadership qualities and extra-curricular activities must accompany the application. Applications are available in guidance.

Krewe of Gemini Scholarship- Deadline April 11, 2014. Seniors are eligible who have demonstrated financial need and community/school involvement. Applications must accompany 3 character reference letters, transcript, a short essay, and a detailed biographical statement explaining how this scholarship will assist you. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned to the guidance office by April 11.

Alpha Kapa Alpha (AKA) Sorority Scholarship: Deadline April 14, 2014. Several $500 and $1000 scholarships will be awarded to seniors in Harrison and Jackson counties. Priority consideration will be given to students with leadership and community service, participation in activities sponsored by AKA, first or second generation college students, and students who will be attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Students should have an 85 or higher GPA, an 18 or higher on the ACT, be should be active in her school/community. Applications are available in guidance.

Lawrence & Lucimarian Roberts/Helpline Scholarship- Deadline April 15, 2014. Graduating seniors planning to attend a two or four year college or university in the state of MS and who plan to major in a behavioral health related field are eligible (psychology, social work, or counseling). Applications are available online at www.mgccf.org by printing the application and mailing the completed application to Gulf Coast Community Foundation, 11975 Seaway Road, Suite B-150, Gulfport, MS 39503.

Harold & Mary W. Perlman Scholarship Fund- Deadline April 15, 2014. Graduating seniors enrolling full-time in the fall at Williams Carey, USM, or MGCCC are eligible to apply. Students should have a minimum 3.0 GPA, financial need, and community service/extra-curricular involvement in high school. Applications are available online at www.mgccf.org by printing the application and mailing the completed application to Gulf Coast Community Foundation, 11975 Seaway Road, Suite B-150, Gulfport, MS 39503.

Keesler African-American Heritage Committee Col. Lawrence Roberts Scholarship: Deadline April 20, 2014. Applicants must be Mississippi Gulf Coast graduating high school seniors who are entering an accredited college or university in the summer or fall of 2014. This is a need-based scholarship based on ACT/SAT scores and overall academic performance. In addition to a list of required documents, students must write a 700 – 1000 word typed and double spaced (12 pitch font) essay on “The Golden Jubilee of the Civil Rights Act.” A letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor must be submitted as well. Pick up an application in the guidance office.

Brittney Reese Scholarship: Deadline April 30, 2014. Seniors with a minimum 84 GPA, who are on free/reduced lunch, and who are involved in the school/community are eligible to apply. Student athletes are encouraged to apply but you do not need to be on a high school athletic team to be considered. Applications are available in guidance and must be accompanied by 2 letters of recommendation, an official transcript, and an essay on the requested topic. Applications are available in guidance.

Frigo Ortho Scholarship: Deadline April 25, 2014. Patients or former patients of Frigo Orthodontics with a minimum 2.5 GPA, community service, and who demonstrate upstanding character are eligible. Applications are available at www.frigoortho.com and may be submitted directly to Dr. Frigo’s office.

Trojan Alumni Association Black History Scholarship: Deadline April 25, 2014. Gulfport High School seniors with a 2.5 or higher GPA, financial need, and community/school involvement are eligible to apply. Students will submit a 500-1000 word essay on the topic “There Can Be No Freedom Without Education,” supported by incidents or comments from the book The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass. Applications are available in guidance and may be turned into guidance by April 25.

Harrison County Farm Bureau: Deadline May 1, 2014. Graduating seniors who will attend a college in the state of Mississippi in the fall and whose parents are Harrison County Farm Bureau members are elibile to apply. Applications are available in guidance and may be mailed to Alberta McMullen at Harrison County Farm Bureau, P.O. Box 2009, Gulfport MS 39505.

Hope CDA’s Richard Courtney Memorial Scholarship: Deadline May 2, 2014. Gulf Coast seniors with a minimum 2.5 GPA, who have exhibited community service, and with financial need are eligible to apply. Students will be evaluated based on a 500 minimum essay on the topic: The Importance of Non-profit Organizations to the Communities They Serve. Essays should be typed, Times New Roman, 12 pt. fond, and double-spaced. Applications are available in guidance and should be mailed to Hope CDA, Attention Development Department, 425 Division Street, Biloxi, MS 39530. The Mississippi Municipal League (MML) Scholarship: Deadline May 2, 2014. A general scholarship will be awarded to one graduating senior in the state of Mississippi, and two limited scholarships will be awarded to children or grandchildren of employees or elected officials of Mississippi municipalities. Students must submit an application and an essay on “Why I Should Consider a Career in Municipal Government. The essay must be 2,000 words or less. Applications are available in the guidance office and should be mailed to MML Scholarship, Mississippi Municipal Leage, 600 East Amite Street- Suite 104, Jackson, MS 39201.

 Want to get involved in MGCCC leadership opportunities at Perk, JD, or the Jackson County campus? The MGCCC Reflections Team is a student recruiting organization composed of full-time MGCCC students from in-district high schools (George, Stone, Harrison and Jackson County), out-of-district and out-of-state high schools, as well as adult students of the same classification. The Reflections Team participates in all recruitment functions such as high school visits, Career Days, and Bulldog Day. The team is well educated on the policies and procedures of MGCCC and is available to answer any questions prospective students may have. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and no disciplinary infractions. Applications are available in guidance and are due to the campus at which you are applying by April 4, 2014.
