West Hall – The Arts and Communication Building will house three programs dedicated to the creative arts - Broadcasting, Music, and Art. By learning and working in a dedicated collaborative environment, Bergen Community College students develop a comprehensive outlook on their respective chosen careers. A unique opportunity exists for this building to be named for $1 million.
BROADCAST ARTS
Educational Broadcast Center Lobby - $50,000 This first floor space, conducive to open sharing of creative ideas designed to enhance students’ educational experiences, will provide an environment for students seeking hands-on experiences in the dynamic world of telecommunications – television, radio, and mass media.
Video Post-Production Laboratory and Videoconference Center - $50,000 Digital acquisition, mixing, and special effects are strongly emphasized in this top-of-the-line facility, where students are encouraged to use their creative and technical skills and the twenty-five Macintosh G5 editing stations with DVD burners to produce unique and innovative projects. The center utilizes H.323 (video-over-IP), MPEG-2 and ISDN technologies to connect Bergen Community College with other institutions throughout the world.
Instructional Television Studio - $50,000 This studio is designed to support students in the production of studio-based programs, utilize remote production equipment, and to edit completed video programs. A direct link to the Internet provides the opportunity to broadcast live studio-based programs worldwide.
College Tele-Production Studio - $50,000 This studio supports the academic and public relations needs of the institution by providing a broadcast quality environment in which to produce materials for broadcast, use in the classroom, and for web-casting to our online student population.
Green Room - $25,000 The Green Room plays a vital role in the preparation of guests prior to their appearance in the television studio. Producers, directors, and on-camera talent meet to discuss all of the elements of a show in a relaxed setting before going “under the lights”.
Radio Production Center - $15,000 This facility provides a studio environment that supports skills development in a wide variety of audio production formats - live- to-tape productions, commercials, dramas, and actualities.
MUSIC AND RECORDING ARTS
Recital Hall - $150,000 This multi-use acoustically enhanced space will be used as a recital hall and rehearsal studio for student and faculty ensembles, for concerts, rehearsals, guest performances and distinguished artists.
Music and Recording Arts Lobby - $50,000 The second floor lobby will provide student musicians with the opportunity to gather to discuss the musical arts in an informal setting.
Recording Studio - $50,000 This state-of the-art recording studio features a 24-track digital mixing console, a control room with multiple isolation booths, each equipped with the most up-to date software, and an ensemble of tools including drums and percussion, piano, keyboards, amplifiers, microphones, and audio processing hardware and software.
Electronic Music Laboratory - $50,000 This laboratory, which is an essential component in the composition of works involving music, animation, and music composition for film video and computer games includes 17 music work stations each containing synthesizers, high-end computer work environments and the up-to-date recording and composition equipment such as microphones, speaker systems, and sound processing equipment.
Keyboard Laboratory - $50,000 This state-of-the-art keyboard lab, equipped with 14 “piano-quality” synthesizers, also provides music workstations that contain educational software programs supporting concepts in music theory, composition, and musicianship with a laser printer and software for music notation.
Applied Music Studios (4) - $20,000 These compact rooms, equipped with pianos, stereo systems, and mirrors, provide private space for one-on-one faculty- student lessons in voice, piano, guitar, bass, percussion, and other instruments. VISUAL ARTS
Exhibition Hall and Rooftop Garden - $250,000 The exhibition hall and integrated rooftop garden will provide a flexible setting for the display of student-produced and visiting artist collections.
Visual Arts Lobby - $50,000 This third floor lobby to the Visual Arts area will provide a welcoming environment for students, visitors and art enthusiasts.
Animation Laboratory - $50,000 Multi-dimensional animation techniques will be explored with a technical and aesthetic focus. Students will see their work progress from concept to storyboard to completion in this laboratory resulting in the development of market-ready skills with the completion of this degree program.
Computer Graphics Laboratory (2) - $50,000 This laboratory will provide a creative setting in which students will explore layout and manipulation of illustrations, photos, and text to deliver effective messages in the fields of advertising, publishing, and web development.
Natural Media Laboratory - $35,000 This art laboratory will encourage student creativity through the use of a wide variety of materials and mixed media painting techniques.
Visual Studies Classroom - $25,000 This facility will provide students with a multimedia environment in which to develop an understanding and enjoyment of architecture, sculpture, painting, and other art forms within historical and cultural contexts.
INTERDISCIPLINARY FACILITIES
Classrooms (4) - $25,000 These learning spaces will incorporate multi-media equipment (DVD, VHS, document camera, PC and projector) to enhance the students’ educational experience.
Computer Laboratories (2) - $50,000 These laboratories are designed to enhance the educational experience by providing individual computer workstations for students in a multi-media classroom environment incorporating video, audio, Internet, and data display capabilities.
Name a space or the building and receive a unique Two-For-One Opportunity
Prospective donors interested in naming a space or the building will receive: The option to place his/her name on the selected space or structure; The opportunity to direct how the contribution will be used: o To establish a new college endowment fund, or o To direct the monies’ placement into the college’s primary endowed scholarship fund - Securing Our Future. Bergen Community College naming opportunities may be established with gifts or pledge commitments of $10,000 or more. Depending on the size of the pledge commitment and the proposed annual payments, a customized payment plan may continue for five or more years. Gifts accepted as Naming Contributions: * Gifts of Cash * Gifts of appreciated securities * Bequests * Gifts from an estate * Gifts of real estate * Planned giving vehicles such as charitable remainder or other trusts All proposals for major naming opportunities at the college are to be submitted to the Bergen Community College Foundation. The College Board of Trustees, in conjunction with the BCC Foundation, finalizes all agreements on behalf of the college. A customized agreement, endorsed by all parties, is developed for each approved proposal. The agreement specifies the terms of the pledge remittance plan as well as the scope of donor recognition.
