Kurtis Glovebox Jing Order Gas Common Chemicals Website HPLC/MPLC Pump Cart Fengqi GC Nathan Common Supplies GC/MS Broken Glass Youn Hee Printer Inventory Waste Disposal / Safety Officer Hekla Group Cleanups / Jobs Hood 1 Group Meetings Lu Sovent Schedule Solvent System Kugelrohr Common Supplies: Order gloves, test tubes, pipettes, TLC plates, pump oil, etc. Common Chemicals: Order sand, inorganic acids and salts, silica, silicone and mineral oils, and chloroform, as well as 20 L drums of Hexanes, Ethyl Acetate, Ether, THF, etc. approx. every 4-6 weeks. Gas: Order gas. Make sure we don’t run out of N2, Argon, etc. Solvent System: Order solvents and re-fill kegs. Instruments (GC/IR/GC-MS/HPLC/MPLC/Pump Cart): Post a sheet on or near the instrument giving instructions on its use, train people who need to use it, fix it when it’s broken. Inventory: Go to lots of meetings and organize yearly inventory update. Group Cleanup: Organize group cleanups and provide food and tasty beverages. Group Jobs: Assign group jobs; make sure people are doing them. Waste/Safety Officer: Keep a constant supply of waste labels. Prepare group for regular safety inspections. Get bitched out when unsafe stuff happens. Glovebox: Regenerate catalyst and change gloves periodically, train people to use it, keep constant supply of nitrile gloves, paper towels, and pipette tips. Printer: Replace toner cartridges in lab printer and keep constant supply of printer paper. Website: Update website to add new group members/alumni, new papers published, and add updated group jobs list and group meeting schedule. Talk to the TC about getting access to the server if you don’t already have it. Hood 1: Take care of the distill solvent and cryo cool in the hood and keep the hood1 clean. Solvent Schedule: Update solvent schedule; make sure the pairs can work together Group Meetings: Update the group meeting schedule and make sure food and drinks will be prepared.
