Full description Trainee leadworker and apprentice. To assist qualified craftsmen and trades men with the installation of sand cast lead sheet to various areas of the town hall complex roofs. Will include cutting carrying, forming and assisting to install lead sheet to roofs, dormers, domes and other intricate works. Training available on site and with specialist training body to NVQ 2 / 3. Operatives to be able to work at height and work outside at all times of the year and be highly self-motivated. Tools available through company scheme.

Number of positions available 1 Weekly Wage 247.00 per week Working Week 38 hours. Please note that if Apprentice is over 18yrs old the hours of work may increase to coincide with the site operational hours when appropriate

Future prospects description The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be trained to a high skill level and work on historic buildings around the country. There is long term scope within the company to progress to management level

Have natural practical ability Qualifications required Initial assessment will be undertaken to assess that the candidate is able to achieve the requirements of the apprenticeship framework.

Personal qualities As an apprentice recruited as part of the Manchester Town Hall Complex Transformation project, you will be expected to be punctual have good attendance and act in a professional manner at all times. You will need to be able to work as part of a close nit team.

Additional Detail

Important Other Unfortunately due to the unavailability of apprenticeship funding, Information We are unable to accept applications for this vacancy from candidates who have a qualification at Level 4 or above. This role requires a high level of fitness due to the detail of the tasks in the job specification. We ask that all candidates applying take this into consideration as health and safety test may be carried out to ensure the safety of all individuals and the members of the team with which they work. For health and safety reasons we cannot accept anyone for this role who is under the age of 18.

Reality Check As an apprentice you will be expected to work across all sites and be flexible in your travel and working hours from time to time. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided and must be worn at all times in a suitable manner. You will be paid weekly on the last working day and will have to work for the first week in hand. You will be expected to work at heights from time to time for which appropriate training will be provided. You may also have to work in confined spaces. For working with lead a blood test will be necessary and will be taken annually or at lesser increments depending on blood test results. You will be expected to get to your place of work at your own cost.
