Reepham Primary School – 01603 870321 Weekly Newsletter – 9th January 2015

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy New Year!

We have lots of exciting learning planned for this spring term. A full date list will follow next week, however we would like to let you know about three important dates for your diary coming up.

The first is our visit by Steve Cole on Thursday 15th January (see below for more information). We know that the children will be inspired!

On Monday 19th January there will be a meeting for parents at 3.15 until 4pm, the theme of which will be to share our vision for learning at Reepham Primary School, moving forward into the future. More information will follow, we hope that many of you will be able to attend.

Early this week teaching assistants and other members of staff (including myself) attended training here at school in the “Maths Makes Sense” learning system. As you will know most teachers had already received training at the start of the school year. As part of our further development in maths we are working with Oxford University Press and Richard Dunne Maths Training to hold a Maths Makes Sense Development Day here at school on Friday 30th January. As part of this day there will be two information sessions for parents, at 8.30 until 8.45 (with time at the end for questions) and from 2.00 until 2.45 (again with time after the session for questions). We would love as many parents who are able to attend to attend and we hope that this will enable you to support your children further at home with their learning in maths.

Our Ofsted report will be published early next week, a further letter will follow.

Author visit Thursday 15th January Back by popular request - Steve Cole, the zany, energetic and funny author to entertain us and inspire our reading for pleasure. Steve is famous for writing many of the Dr Who books and you may have seen him on TV hosting the Dr Who 50th anniversary celebrations last year. Steve is visiting us on Thursday morning and will be talking to the whole school at about 10.45am. Parents are welcome to join us for some entertainment and enthusiasm for reading. There will be a little time for book signing so look out you Astrosaurs, Cows in Action, Let Loose the Leopard, Agent Mummies……and bring them along. Steve has also taken over the Young Bond series of books from Charlie Higson and his first book Shoot to Kill was published last term. We will have a collection of Steve’s books in school for sale before and after Thursday if you wish to purchase any. School Dinners Reminder As before we would request that all dinners monies for your child be paid on a Monday morning in a named envelope detailing days dinners are required. Thank you.

Key Stage 2 PE Kit Please remember to bring indoor and outdoor kit to school as we will be completing endurance running (cross country). For your outdoor kit you will need trainers, t shirt, old jumper or tracksuit top, leggings or tracksuit bottoms and spare socks. Thank you, Mrs Hudson
