Scheme development

1 Bradstow Court is an extra care housing scheme which opened in October 2009.

The scheme is part of the 30 year, £72m Better Homes Active Lives Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract awarded in October 2007.

The scheme is managed by Housing 21 which employs an onsite scheme manager.

The scheme is similar to other extra care schemes in Kent in accommodating a wide range of care and support needs for people over 55. A 30 year Nominations Agreement and an allocations panel comprising of representatives from KCC Adult Social Care, and Thanet District Council oversee scheme allocation. Location and description of scheme The building is composed of 24 one-bed and 16 two-bed rented flats. The scheme is located in Broadstairs about 1 mile from the town centre. There is a bus stop approximately 100 yards from the scheme and some on street parking nearby.

The scheme is managed by Housing 21 which employs an onsite scheme manager.

The scheme is similar to other extra care schemes in Kent in accommodating a wide range of care and support needs for people over 55. A 30 year Nominations Agreement and an allocations panel comprising of representatives from KCC Adult Social Care, Dartford Borough Council and Sevenoaks District Council oversee scheme allocation. Location and description of scheme The building is composed of 26 one-bed and 14 two-bed rented flats. The scheme is located in the village of Wilmington in the Borough of Dartford about 3miles from Dartford and Swanley town centres. The village is served by bus services to both of these towns.

The scheme is similar to other extra care schemes in Kent in accommodating a wide range of care and support needs for people over 55. A 30 year Nominations Agreement and an allocations panel comprising of representatives from KCC Adult Social Care, and Canterbury City Council oversee scheme allocation. Location and description of scheme The building is composed of 26 one-bed and 14 two-bed rented flats. The scheme is located in Herne Bay opposite the Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital about 0.5 miles from the centre of Herne Bay. There is a bus stop nearby and on street parking.

The scheme is similar to other extra care schemes in Kent in accommodating a wide range of care and support needs for people over 55. Location and description of scheme The building is composed of 27 one-bed and 12 two-bed rented flats. The scheme is located in Hythe about 0.5 miles from the town centre and seafront. There is a bus stop approximately 0.5 miles from the scheme and limited on street parking nearby.

The scheme is managed by Housing 21 which employs an onsite scheme manager.

The scheme is similar to other extra care schemes in Kent in accommodating a wide range of care and support needs for people over 55. A Nominations Agreement and an allocations panel comprising of representatives from KCC Adult Social Care, Maidstone Borough Council and Housing 21 oversee scheme allocation. Location and description of scheme The building is composed of 14 one-bed and 43 two-bed rented flats. Thomas Place adjoins the landmark Kent History and Library Centre development, and is situated 10 minutes from Maidstone town centre.

Proposed Developments

Deal Extra Care scheme, Mongeham Road, Deal, Kent

Scheme development

It is proposed to develop an extra care housing scheme in Deal with an estimated completion date in March 2015. The development will be on the site of the Sampson Court Care Home which closed in 2011. The site is leased to Orbit South by Kent County Council (KCC) Capital funding will be provided by Orbit South. The scheme will be managed by Orbit South which will employ an onsite scheme manager. Location and description of scheme The building will be composed of 81 flats, 20 of which will be shared equity and the remainder will be affordable rented. The scheme will be located in a residential area that is about two miles from the centre of Deal. There is a bus stop nearby and there are some local shops.

A tripartite Nominations Agreement and allocations panel comprising of representatives from KCC Adult Social Care, Orbit South and Dover District Council will oversee scheme allocation.

Shared Equity flats

Orbit South (the landlord) will market these flats to people over 55, some of whom may have care and support needs.

Sittingbourne Extra Care scheme, Regis Gate, Sittingbourne, Kent ME10 2HB

Scheme development

It is proposed to develop an extra care housing scheme in Sittingbourne with an estimated completion date in September 2014. The development will be on the site of the Wyllie Court Sheltered housing complex which closed in 2012. The site is owned by AmicusHorizon. Capital funding will be provided by AmicusHorizon and Kent County Council (KCC) The scheme will be managed by AmicusHorizon which will employ an onsite scheme manager. Location and description of scheme The building will be composed of 51 flats, 20 of which will be shared equity and the remainder will be affordable rented. The scheme will be located in Milton Regis which is about one mile from the centre of Sittingbourne.

The Warren Extra Care scheme, Ashford, Kent

Scheme development

It is proposed to develop an extra care housing scheme in Ashford with an estimated completion date of March 2015.The scheme will be located on the Warren site just outside of Ashford and near to Junction nine of the M20 motorway near Simone Weil Avenue. The scheme will be managed by Housing 21 which will employ an onsite scheme manager.

Location and description of scheme The building will be composed of 67 flats, 33 of which will be shared equity and the remainder will be affordable rented.

Scheme development

It is proposed to develop an extra care housing scheme in the rural area of Aldington in the Borough of Ashford with a tentative completion date of March 2015. The scheme will be managed by Housing 21 which will employ an onsite scheme manager.

Location and description of scheme The building will be composed of 33 flats, 16 of which will be shared equity and the remainder will be affordable rented. The scheme will be located on part of Aldington Quarry south east and opposite Wellside, Calleywell Lane, Aldington.
