The Gallatin Valley Bicycle Club, Inc. presents: The Montana State Time Trial Championships Sunday, August 13th, Bozeman, Montana

USCF Permit: Pending Official: David Lingle

What: Montana State Time Trial Championships.

Where: Bozeman Montana. Coming from the east or west on I-90, take the 19th street exit at the west end of Bozeman. Head north on 19th street (towards the Bridger mountains) about 1 mile until the road sweeps to the west and then T's into Springhill road. Turn right (north) on Springhill and drive about 1/2 mile. Staging and registration will be on your left, opposite the golf course.

When: Sunday, August 13th. Registration from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. Pre-race meeting at 9:45. Race starts at 10:00 (see Timetable below).

Course description. This will be an out and back time trial on good pavement. The long course has one significant 1 mile uphill drag to the turn-around, and one lesser hill on the return trip. Overall uphill on the way out and downhill on the way back. Juniors and 65+ masters will ride a 20km course; all others will ride approximately 33.5km.

Profile of the long course. The climb to the turn-around is a 3.2% grade over 1.2 miles. Short course turn-around is at 6.2 miles.

General information. Junior gearing restrictions apply and juniors are responsible for having their bikes set up correctly before they sign-in.

The road will be open to traffic, and all racers must obey Montana State rules of the road, including: stay to the right except to pass, and yield to traffic at turn-arounds and intersections. All racers must wear helmets while warming up, racing, and cooling down and must stay off of the road at the start-finish area.

To avoid congestion at the start-finish area, we strongly encourage riders to bring rollers or a trainer for warm-up.

**** Amendment: Sorry folks, it looks like we won't be having a hand-cyclist category this year - logistics, licensing and insurance became a problem. If there is enough interest, we will pursue this class next year. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Time table:

8:15 to 9:30 registration.

9:45 pre-race meeting and race number assignment. We will give all racers a number at the pre-race meeting and your number will be your start order (e.g. the racer wearing #2 will be the second racer to start).
