Angelina College Division of Science and Mathematics MATH 0010L – Math Lab Syllabus Spring 2017 I. BASIC COURSE INFORMATION: A. 1The mathematics laboratory at Angelina College is designed to support students enrolled in a developmental mathematics course at Angelina College. (Courses are listed below.) The faculty and staff of the developmental mathematics program are dedicated to helping students become successful in mathematics.

a.i. MATH 0310 - Basic Math. A review of arithmetic and its applications. Operations with integers, fractions, decimals, and percent. Also measurement, formulas, geometry, proportions. a.ii. MATH 0320 - Introductory Algebra. Beginning algebraic concepts, skills, and applications. Solving and graphing linear equations, inequalities, and systems of equations. a.iii. MATH 0330 - Intermediate Algebra. A study of relations and functions, inequalities, algebraic expressions and equations (absolute value, polynomial, radical, rational), with a special emphasis on linear and quadratic expressions and equations.

B. The intended audience is any student currently enrolled in a developmental mathematics course.

II. COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND POLICIES: A. Course Requirements – Students are required to purchase an access code for MyLabsPlus, (this is included with new books bought at AC bookstore.)

B. Course Policies – This course conforms to the policies of Angelina College as stated in the Angelina College Handbook. 1. 2. Attendance – Students are required to attend their scheduled 50 minute math lab each week. Bring your student ID or other photo ID in order to receive credit for attending math lab.

3. 2You must work on mathematics while you are in the math lab. You may work independently on homework or with others (as long as you do so quietly). The lab instructor and math tutors will be available to assist you.

4. Cell phones: No texting, or talking on cellphones.

5. You are invited to utilize the Developmental Math Lab at times other than your scheduled lab. Below are the hours of operation. Monday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Wednesday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Thursday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm

6. The computers in the lab may only be used to access MyLabsPlus and the AC website.

7. No food will be allowed in the math lab. Only drinks with a secure top will be permitted.
