We are writing on behalf of the Purple Teardrop Campaign, a UK charity that is working to end sex slavery.

The Purple Teardrop Campaign works in partnership with Soroptimist International, the global network of 80,000 women located in 133 countries who speak out on behalf of women who cannot speak out for themselves, in this case, women exploited by those who commit offences of modern slavery. Human traffickers and those who commit crimes of modern slavery are engaged in many insidious forms of crime, including forcing victims into sexual exploitation. Sometimes, the advertising of these crimes is unwittingly facilitated through mainstream advertising in the printed press and on the internet.

Please can you tell us how you achieve legal compliance in your customer base at company name via the statements below and inform us whether you already have measures in place to tackle the issue of illegal usage of your services for crimes of modern slavery and how this will be demonstrated in your slavery statements as required by Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, which came into effect on 1st April 2016.

The Soroptimist International network would like to positively support those mobile phone service providers who are actively working on the legal compliance of their customer base and with particular regard to human rights and addressing the exploitation of women and girls.

We will be undertaking an analysis of the responses we receive and sharing the results with yourself and with the Independent Anti Slavery Commissioner. For your reference, we attach a letter from the Independent Anti Slavery Commissioner that was circulated to business leaders on 1st April 2016.
