Podcast Project (15 points) American and world slang

1. You and your partner(s) will give a short presentation on global slang.  Your team has two different cultures in it.  Each of you will need to explain in English five of the American slang expressions from pages 44- 45.  You will also need to explain how to say these types of expressions in your own language.  Each of you will need to talk between 4-7 minutes.  Talk less than 4 minutes (each), lose 5 points  Talk more than 7 minutes (each) , lose 5 points.

3. Your assignment: You are going to tell the world about slang (in 3 different languages) A. I will be recording you and your partners onto my computer for this task. Then, I will upload your discussions to the Internet as Podcasts.

B. Task: You and your partner(s) will develop a brief lesson on slang. 1. Define the expression, and give an example sentence/situation using it in English. 2. Get your team to repeat the example sentences. 3. Have one person sign on and one sign off. (short)

C. Format: 1. Casual style (it is slang) 2. Each of you can only use one 3X5 flashcard for notes if you like.

4. Grading: A. Fluency: Minimal hesitation as you perform the task. THIS IS IMPORTANT. B. Time limit: 4-7 minutes each. C. Accuracy: of both language and vocabulary usage. D. Completeness of your podcast: Each of you presents five slang expressions, gives the definition of each and example sentences, which you have group members repeat. Also, briefly note how to say them in your own language. E. Sign on and off (introduction and conclusion).

5. The audience: When you are performing your report, you will have an audience of two or three students and me. At the end, you should ask if anyone has any questions.
