In August 2003 Revelo Ltd, run by Stephanie Rohl received a SMART award from the DTI to develop a product designed for parents who don’t want a double buggy, but whose toddler needs a ride from time to time.

Safety and comfort were crucial to the design.

The result is the truly innovative buggypod: The Pull-Out/Fold-Away side car for buggies - available in shops from October 2005.

buggypod unclips easily for stowing in the car or going on holiday and gives parents the flexibility they need.

CLIP ON

. Clip on: buggypod attaches simply to the side of your buggy and folds up neatly out of the way when not in use.

. Pull Out: When your toddler needs a rest, with 1-click, the pod, with its PULL OUT own wheel, opens and locks into place, and your child has a comfy seat (with seat pad, 5 point harness and footplate) to ride in.

. Fold Away: when your child has had a rest and is ready to walk again – FOLD AWAY simply fold buggypod neatly away [1-click folding action] and off you go.

Designed to meet pushchair standard EN 1888, buggypod is light, compact and attaches easily to the side of most pushchairs and prams [including 3 wheelers and twin pushchairs] using universal brackets.

Suitable for children from around 6 months up to 4 years, buggypod has a five-point harness and comfy seat and footplate (just like any pushchair) and is truly manoeuvrable. - essential whether out shopping in a busy town or walking across the park back from nursery… buggypod d glides along smoothly next to your buggy, navigating curbs and bumps with ease.

Designworks Windsor Ltd has designed Stephanie’s original idea beautifully. The brief was clear – buggypod had to be comfortable and safe, fun and easy to use.

The strong, lightweight aluminium frame looks great. The state of the art folding mechanism means that the buggypod and folds up with the wheel neatly tucked away when not in use. The universal fixing system means that buggypod works with nearly all pushchairs on the market.

Stephanie Rohl comments:

“The idea behind the buggypod is to give parents the extra flexibility they need to make life with little ones fun and easy.”

“ All toddlers and pre-schoolers want a degree of independence when they’re out and about. But there comes a moment when they’ve had enough and NEED to sit down. Having their own seat next to their younger sibling has all the sociability of a double pushchair with all the benefits of a single pushchair…”

Testimonials [Source: Focus Group research, Henley on Thames, Jan 2005]

'There's definitely a market for people like me who have spent a lot on a three wheeler and think “I'm not going to spend a whole load on a new double buggy” when number two comes along and you're more strapped for cash anyway because one of you has given up work!'

“Even my oldest would like it - he gets tired occasionally when we're out - it would be useful for the last ten minutes home because otherwise the last ten minutes can take an hour!”

“It would work well for my two year old and a four year old - even though the four-year is perfectly capable of standing on a wheeled-board, sometimes she simply doesn't want to play the game.”

“Even if she can stand on a wheeled-board, I don't want to push one!”
