Ward ECS/EPS Emergency/Disaster Action Checklist

Ward ECS or EPS Actions: (Whoever is available)

 During local Severe Storms/Emergencies/Disasters the Ward ECS/EPS monitors warnings on the news and where possible skywarn on amateur radio.  When an emergency/disaster (i.e. tornado touches down, fire, flooding, etc.) occurs the ECS/EPS checks the affected area against the Church mapping system to determine what members may be affected.  Calls the Bishop and informs him about the affected area and members that may be affected.  If phone lines are down the Ward ECS contacts/establishes the Stake ERC net.

Bishop Actions:

 Calls Melchizedek Priesthood Leader to assess the area (Elder Pres, HP Leader, Home Teacher, EPS, etc.) or someone living in the area. o Melchizedek Priesthood Leader assesses area and reports assessment to the Bishop. . Description, location, and magnitude of the emergency . Number of members or missionaries injured, missing, or dead . Location and extent of damage to Church or member property . Actions being taken to help those in distress . Needed assistance that is unavailable locally  Melchizedek Priesthood Leader and Bishop determine what immediate help is needed.  Assigns Melchizedek Priesthood Leader to organize immediate assistance as needed.  Reports assessment/assistance to the Stake President. o Stake President and Bishop determines additional assistance if required.

Stake ECS Actions:

 During local Severe Storms/Emergencies/Disasters the ECS/EPS monitors warnings on the news and where possible skywarn on amateur radio.  When an emergency/disaster (i.e. tornado touches down, fire, flooding, etc.) occurs the Stake ECS activates the Deland Stake ERC net on 146.865 repeater if available or 146.470 simplex to receive reports pass information and both support and be a resource to welfare services and priesthood leadership until a decision is made to suspend operations by Stake leadership.  Contacts the Stake High Councilman over Emergency Preparedness and makes him aware of the event.

Stake High Councilman Actions:

 Informs and provides Stake support as needed.
