Vehicle Hire – Summary

For road journeys exceeding a total of 130 miles, it is usually cheaper to use a hired vehicle rather than a private one. The University has a rental agreement with Arrow Self Drive to provide car, van and mini buses.

All other requirements eg trucks with tail lifts must be ordered with insurance from the hire company.

Ordering a Hire Vehicle Bookings should be made to Arrow Self Drive by telephone, fax or email.

University order numbers must be quoted when booking any vehicle.

Legal Requirement

It is a legal requirement that all staff produce a copy of their driving licence for every hire. A form must be completed. Copies may be scanned and emailed or faxed to Arrow Self Drive at the time of booking.

Drivers must be 25 years old or over and hold no more than 6 points on their driving licence.

Vehicle Collection

Vehicle Collection from Enterprise Rent-A-Car Depot Enterprise Rent-A-Car will pick up the vehicle hirer from any designated place such as home or Campus and take them to the nearest vehicle depot. This service is free of charge. At the end of the hire period the vehicle may be dropped off at the same or a different depot, and the hirer will be driven to the place of their choice ie home or campus.

This Service is available during working office hours (8am to 6pm Monday to Friday)

UoB Delivery Arrow Self Drive will deliver to University of Bradford main campus free of charge.

Keys will be left at Richmond Building security. Always check around the vehicle and make sure any damage is noted on the accident report form enclosed with the keys. If there is any damage which is not on the form, please notify Enterprise Rent-A-Car immediately so they can adjust the master copy. This will prevent anybody being 'blamed' for damage they have not caused.

It is not necessary for the proposed driver to sign for delivery of a vehicle it may be signed for by an authorised member of the department or by the University security staff.

With the exception of early Monday morning bookings, cars will be delivered the evening prior to rental. Cars required before 9.00am on Mondays will be delivered to the agreed drop off point on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning at no extra cost.

It is important to note that insurance requirements mandate that vehicles must not be used prior to the agreed hire period.

Home Delivery Enterprise Rent-A-Car will deliver to a home address within a 15 mile radius free of charge. Home delivery can be provided up to a 40 mile radius at a charge of £10.00.

Home delivery and collection can be arranged and must be emailed from a University of Bradford email address. On collection of a vehicle it is advised that keys are put in a safe place away from the vehicle, for example under a nearby plant pot. Just inform the hire company where.
