Budgeting Monthly Expenses
Destiny’s Child tried to warn you in their popular song, "Bills, Bills, Bills". You will definitely have more monthly bills than just car payments, house payments, and child care costs. So, what will you have to pay in utilities? Water? Gas? Electricity? Car insurance? Do you have an Internet/phone/cable package? Just how much will you spend on food each month? How many times are you planning on dining out? You can expect a whole lotta' bills, bills, bills! It might not be a bad idea to start collecting coupons. Living can get very expensive.
Please ask your parents or guardians to give you an estimate of what you will have to pay for certain bills each month when you are living on your own. Let’s take it one step farther and estimate what it will cost you when you have a spouse and two kids. You will use this information when you work on the “Family Budget Project” next month.
