Lynn Haven United Methodist Church (LHUMC) Job Description Job Title: Director of Fusion Recreational Ministries
To Whom Reports: Campus Pastor Location: Lynn Haven United Methodist’s Fusion Campus Shift: Variable as assigned by supervisor
Job Function: Further Lynn Haven United Methodist Church’s mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ by maximizing the potential of Fusion’s recreational ministries.
Specific Job Duties: Personnel Supervision - Responsible for the hiring and training all paid staff members. - Manage payroll, timesheets and scheduling of all paid staff members. - Conduct background checks on all potential staff members and volunteers. - Ensure staff is up to date on training and certifications for First Aid and CPR requirements; ensure all trainers have current insurance and certification.
Program Management - Ensure safe operations of all Fusion Sports programs. - Create and sustain Fusion Recreation Programs, either personally, through subcontractor, or subordinate employee development. - Prepare and submit quarterly budget to the Campus Pastor. - Manage monthly operational costs in accordance with budget allowances as well as daily financial reports. - Ensure safety and security guidelines are being followed and emergency plans are implemented. - Adhere to Safe Sanctuary guidelines and policies for Fusion as well as mandated suspected child abuse reporting guidelines. - Seek and promote strategic partnerships with local, state and national ministries. - Integrate the fitness and recreation elements with the Campus Pastor so as to maximize the fruitfulness of the campus’ discipleship and outreach efforts. This includes coordination of Fusion programs with the on-going ministries of LHUMC, especially children and youth. - Interact daily with fitness facility clients to build relationships for the purpose of sharing the Gospel and inspire church members to do the same. - Ensure system of positive control for all financial transactions. 6/19/2017 - Oversee business related purchases or repairs to ensure cost effectiveness and safety requirements are met. - Identify and report facility maintenance needs, potential safety hazards and all accidents to church Director of Operations.
Limits of Authority: Act under the supervision of the Campus Pastor and assume any responsibilities or duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: Experience in management, leadership and organization is required. A degree in Christian sports programs or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a sports related field is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; able to manage multiple, simultaneous departments and projects; and ministering to and supervising employees. Knowledge of sports programs.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, write, use computer, hear and lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment: Work is performed regularly within and around Fusion.
Personal Attributes: Must be able to work in a cohesive manner with co-workers, pastoral staff, church members and guests. Must have a clear testimony of a personal faith in Jesus Christ and a growing personal relationship with Him. Must be willing to adhere to the guidelines set forth in the staff covenant. Must be neat, well-groomed and represent Lynn Haven UMC as a professional at all times, on and off duty.
