35th Annual Conference 35 Years of Counseling Center Training: The State of the Art and the Science September 29th – October 3rd, 2012 Baltimore MD

Closing Session Tuesday, October 3rd, 2012

I. Encouragement to get involved:

Dr. Lafferty encouraged members to get involved. Several possibilities: participate on listserv, join a committee, work on a project, serve as an ACCTA mentor, serve as a Conference Connector, run for the board, and contact the board any time!

II. 2113 Conference

Drs. Sharla Boyd, Cecilia Sun, and Carmen Cruz were introduced as Conference Hosts for 2012. The conference will be held at the InterContinental Hotel, New Orleans, LA, from Saturday, September 21 through Wed., September 24.

III. Appreciation

President Maureen Lafferty expressed appreciation for the work of many people.

IV. Closing Session

1. Dr. Lafferty presented an appreciation plaque to Treasurer Tricia Besett-Alesch.

2. Dr. Mary Ann Covey, President-elect, presented to outgoing President Maureen Lafferty an appreciation plaque and gifts. Gifts included a survival kit to help her when she is lost or stuck in a small vestibule. Dr. Covey also presented a Cannon Power Shot camera, to reflect Dr. Lafferty’s ability to notice beauty and keep perspective

3. Dr. Maureen Lafferty expressed her appreciation, and she expressed her joy in having invested in a labor of love.

4. Members who plan to make this conference their last conference were invited to share their responses. Dr. Barbara Gilbert expressed her gratitude and respect for ACCTA. She will be transitioning to a new role. Dr. Thomas Berry shared the likelihood that he will relocate. He expressed the hope and desire to continue to work in training and to return to ACCTA.

5. ACCTA Farewell Song
