Minutes of a meeting of the Community Committee held on October 5th 2016

Present: Cllrs Custance, Tuplin, Riddle, E Lane, M Lane, Mynott, Mulcrone, Sawtry Youth Project – Jenny Saunders and Russell Gadsby (Sawtry Youth Project). 2 members of the public The meeting was recorded by Cllr M Lane. 1 Apologies for absence Cllr Laxton 2 Minutes of last meeting June 1st – previously approved. 3 Matters arising from previous minutes None 4 Members Declaration of Interest None 5 YOUTH UPDATE: 5.1 Village Academy – No representative present 5.2 Youth Service – No representative present 5.3 Sawtry Youth Project (SYP) Jenny updated the committee:  Members of the youth committee and other youngsters took part in a litter pick of St Judith’s Field and Green End Road  The Youth Committee have started to meet again now that schools have started back  Fundraising: o Helped at an event at Greenfield o The Simon Costigan memorial event o Working with the Sawtry Small Business Partnership to put on a Christmas Fair on December 3rd at the Village Academy  The accounts have been audited successfully  The group have joined Hunts Forum  They are looking at local skateparks to see how the various safety surfaces are wearing  An action plan is being worked on to ensure the project keeps moving forward  A timeline of the work of the project in the first two years was circulated 6 SAWTRY SHOW Cllr Tuplin reported that the number of competitors and entries were both down this year. The mop-up meeting will be held next week. It is expected that this year’s event will have run at a loss – additional expenditure on new banners due to the change of name of the Academy, and the purchase of a Trophy in memory of Arthur Golder who had been a big supporter of the show. There is sufficient budget to cover any losses. 7 SAWTRY CARNIVAL It was agreed to contact the Carnival organisers to see if they wish to send someone to this meeting to update the Council. It was noted that the minutes of meetings are circulated to Councillors. 8 COMMUNITY CENTRE – As Cllr Laxton was not present this item has been deferred. Cllr Laxton. 9 FUTURE PROJECTS A plan of the new play area was circulated for information. 10 BUDGET PLANNING It was agreed that the expenditure for 2017/18 would be: 2017/18 Youth Club - £6000 Fireworks - £3500 11 NOTICES & CORRESPONDENCE: Noted 11.1 Minutes of SYP meeting 14th September The Clerk was asked to contact the police for a comparison with 11.2 Summary of Weekly last year’s figures. updates from Police (via email) 12 NEXT MEETING December 7th 2016 at 7.30pm
